“Why? Because I’m a bad influence regarding plans?”
“Yes. The image of your cherry-red lips wrapped around me is permanently burned in my brain.” Damn, I was getting hard again simply from envisioning Daisy down on her knees in front of me.
“Maybe the visual will get you through a long week until we can have a repeat performance.”
“Not to sound like an incredible blow job has anything to do with the question, but what are you doing tomorrow night?”
Her chest vibrated with a giggle. “I’m having dinner with Tory and Kelsey. We’re meeting in San Diego.”
“Why so far away?”
“Kelsey is on assignment there, so we figured we’d meet her down there for a change of pace.”
“How are you getting there and back?”
“Chance has chartered a plane for us. I won’t be back till late tomorrow night.”
I fought my disappointment. She was entitled to make plans with her friends, especially given the fact I’d nixed my own availability for five out of the seven days. “We have tomorrow morning, though, right?”
“We sure do. Now are you planning to feed me or what?”
I grinned at her sassy side and slid out of the bed. “You bet.”

Teaching Daisy to surf was akin to teaching a toddler to focus and sit still. My face hurt from all the laughter, and I was sure she’d have bruises from the number of times she managed to knock herself with the board. But like all things, she gave it one hundred percent, even if she didn’t quite get the hang of it.
After trading in our wetsuits for dry clothes, we went and picked out three koi fish. She named them Huey, Louie, and Dewey. I watched them swim in their new pond while the sun set in my backyard, not having a clue who was who.
Daisy was in San Diego having dinner, and I was already missing her. This morning, we’d made good use of my steam shower. I could definitely get used to having her here in my house.
Where had that thought come from? We were dating exclusively, but we weren’t in a relationship. Still, it didn’t keep me from sending her a text at eleven o’clock at night asking where she was.
“Hi, you home?”
“Just got here.”
I hit the call button immediately. “Hi.”
“Hi. How are you?”
Bored. Lonely. “Good. How was your night?”
“It was a lot of fun. I could get used to traveling in a private plane.”
“I bet. You tired?”
“A little, but not too bad. Why, you have a change in plan in mind?”
My lips curved up in a smile. “Someone once told me the best things happen when you don’t follow the plan.”
“Sounds like someone you should always listen to.”
“Absolutely. You up for some company?”
“I am, but considering your incredible steam shower, maybe I should come to you.”
“No way. Considering your incredibly comfortable bed, I’m coming to you.”
