“It’s not a big deal. Are you okay? Do you want to talk about it?”
Humiliation washed over me. Here I was with the perfect man after the best evening I could ever remember, and somehow my past relationship had to find a way to ruin it. “No, but maybe I should go back to my hotel room.”
He raked a hand through his hair, and I half expected him to show irritation, but instead he remained calm. “I can walk you to your vehicle so you can leave, or I could drive you, so I know you arrived safely. Or we can talk about it. Or we can not talk about it and go back to sleep. Or I can distract you with my tongue. And I’m not trying to show my bias, but I’m pulling for the last option.”
I burst out laughing. “Only you can make me laugh at a time like this, Nic.”
He skimmed his nose to my ear. “Say my name again, and I’ll put my tongue anywhere you want it.”
“Nic.”
He dove south straight for my pussy. “I’m glad she chose option five too. I know you missed me.”
I might’ve laughed if it wasn’t for the fact he’d flattened his tongue and was running it through my slit. Jesus.
The man possessed the unique capacity to give me absolute pleasure. And one orgasm was not enough. Nope, he was a twofer kind of guy. If he didn’t give me the type of climaxes leaving me boneless and unable to move, I might’ve thought about returning the favor. Rain check, I thought, my eyes heavy, my body satisfied.
My lover grinned in the dark and gathered my naked body close.
When I woke again, it was to stretch in Dominic’s large bed and relish the softness of his sheets against my nude body. I sat up, smelling bacon. Before I could get up to investigate, in walked Dominic with a tray laden with food. And he was shirtless. Forget food. I wanted him.
“Good morning. Hungry?” He leaned over to kiss me soundly and generally acted as if breakfast in bed was an everyday occurrence.
“Yes, I am.” On the tray were scrambled eggs with cheese, bacon, and toasted English muffins. “You made all this?”
He grinned. “Baby, I’m starting to feel like you doubt my abilities.”
I put a finger to my chin, playing along. “You know, I had a dream last night about you demonstrating said abilities, but I can’t quite remember.”
“Your breakfast is fixin’ to get cold with a challenge like that.”
“I’m a big fan of the microwave.”
Chapter Thirty
Dominic
I could see Kelsey out my kitchen window where she’d set up her laptop on the lanai on Saturday afternoon. I didn’t want to be a stalker, so I left her alone, but I couldn’t help peeking every once in a while. She was so fucking beautiful with her hair down around her shoulders, her computer glasses on, and a pen in her mouth as she typed.
I was going to marry this girl. She didn’t know it yet, and I couldn’t begin to clue her into my feelings at this point without freaking her the hell out, but I could sense it down to my bones. Kelsey Maxwell was the one for me. I’d gone from fear of commitment to pursuing it at a hundred miles an hour. Fine with me. I was no longer scared.
Perhaps fear wasn’t the reason I’d avoided commitment. Maybe my mom had a point when she’d said I simply hadn’t found the right fit. My challenge would be to convince Kelsey to trust me with her heart. No small task, but I’d spend the rest of my days working on the project if that’s what it took.
When my cell phone rang, I smiled at the number. “Hi, Mom.”
“Hi, sweetheart. How is your Saturday?”
“It’s great.”
“Yeah, sounds like maybe you’re spending time with your friend?”
I chuckled. “You’d be correct. She’s working here at my condo, and I’m trying not to be a distraction.”
She laughed, aware patience wasn’t one of my strong points. “I’d love if you brought her to your father’s birthday party.”
The party was two weeks away, and she might not have finished her assignment by then. “I’m not sure.”
“I thought you liked her?”
