“Jesus, Kels.” He lifted up my hips, creating the perfect angle to hit my G-spot over and over as he pumped into me with exquisite control.

“Come for me,” he whispered, unrelenting in his delicious assault on my body.

He grunted when my fingernails dug into his forearms. “Oh, God, I’m there.”

“Me too. You’re squeezing me so fucking tight, coming all over my cock.”

Fueled by his dirty words, I clenched hard, gripping his shaft and enjoying the way he let out a primal growl as he emptied his body into mine.

An advantage of using no condom was he didn’t have to get out of bed to deal with it. Instead he gently pulled out and rolled over to gather me to him. We were both sweaty, but neither of us cared. The sound of his heart hammering against his chest soothed me. “That was wow.”

He chuckled. “Exactly what I was thinking. But there’s something missing.”

Something no woman wants to hear in bed, especially when she’d thought the sex had been off the charts. I pulled away. “What’s missing?”

“Another orgasm for you, of course.” He reached down, playing with my oversensitive clit.

“Are we operating on a two-for-one basis?”

“Yes, ma’am. Always.”

I gripped his cock, feeling it harden again in my hand. “What if I’d rather stay even instead?”

He gripped my hips, lifting me so I straddled him. “I’d say I’d love to see you try, but I’m still going to, ahhhhh…”

He’d lost his ability to talk when I notched myself against his tip and took him inside of me. Riding him was a new sensation, and I was a fan. Especially since I could put my hands on his chest and take control.

“You’re a goddess, so fucking sexy like this.”

For the first time, I felt like one. Empowered with his words, I set a rhythm taking us both over the edge again. But Dominic, clearly owning a competitive spirit, dove between my legs in order to enforce his two-for-one rule.

I awoke around midnight in search of water. Glancing at the bed, Nic was fast asleep. Emotion clogged my throat. I was in love with him. And I was trying not to panic.

I’d made so much progress in my recovery, but I still didn’t trust myself completely. I’d grown up with one narcissist and almost married another. It was as though I’d been groomed to put myself last, to walk on eggshells around those I loved, and to feel shitty about myself. Dominic had been right. Both my mother and Joel had diminished my light so they could be the ones who shined. And I’d let them. Because all I’d ever wanted, all I’d ever craved, was to be loved.

My sense of self-worth had become entirely contingent on having someone love me. I didn’t matter if I couldn’t be the recipient of somebody’s love. And my mother, my father, and Joel had all used my weakness to their advantage.

Loving Dominic meant I could allow another to take advantage of me. I probably wouldn’t even realize I was doing so. The last thing I wanted was to lose myself again. I was afraid I’d never recover a second time.

I took my drink of water and climbed back into bed, careful not to disturb him. I was unsuccessful.

“What’s keeping you up?” Dominic murmured, pulling me close and running his fingers down my naked shoulder.

“My mother suggested I needed a psychological intervention.” I was dipping a toe in the water to test his reaction. Leave it to him not to disappoint.

He snorted. “Of course she did. How else to justify you walking away from her?”

I popped up on his chest, impressed with how quickly he’d gotten her number. “I didn’t stand up to her the way I’d pictured.” Sure, I’d gotten angry over her showing up, but I hadn’t addressed the years of her narcissistic behavior. Much the same with Joel, I’d fled. Confrontations really were my kryptonite.

“Narcissists feed off of the fight and later twist your words around. You leaving was the only way to win.”

My therapist would agree. “I’ll need to get a new cell phone number.” Again. Nothing said you had the wrong people in your life like having to change your phone number twice in a year.

Dominic kissed my neck. “If you’re wondering whether to give me your new phone number, then I’m gonna vote yes.”

I smiled, pulling him closer. I loved the way he was always on my side and could make me laugh. “Sadly, I was contemplating apologizing to my father for my mother’s behavior. Normally, I would.”

Instead of telling me what to do, he put it into perspective. “I can’t imagine my brother asking his daughter to leave based on his ex-wife’s behavior. Or how badly it would hurt my niece if he did. I believe my brother would be attuned to his ex’s narcissist tendencies. If anything, he’d empathize with what my niece has to deal with.”
