Sasha smiles. I was right. She has black hair. I do pay attention sometimes. "Yeah, I decided to drop Physics at the last minute. I want to have an easier summer before I dig all in for the Fall."
Sounds reasonable. "Well, I want to invite you two ladies over tonight for dinner. I need to show this ridiculously beautiful lady that I can cook."
Sasha laughs, and Georgia giggles. Her giggles are even cute. Sasha speaks first. "She is very beautiful. I will accept on both of our behalf."
I don't even know if we have food in the house. Just in case we don't, I text Hector a grocery list. He's on kitchen duty this week. I'd rather be safe than sorry. I'm about to knock her socks off, and maybe I'll get the sleepover I've been waiting for so patiently. Perhaps I'll get that first kiss that I've been patiently waiting for, too.
Chapter 10
Spankings and First Kisses
Everything Fearless 24/7
Sasha H was seen flirting with a hot guy (that wasn't Dallas) in Government this morning. I've heard they already have a date lined up for this weekend. But did anyone think to tell Dallas? (You're welcome.) He's already been down this road before, and it never ends well for him.
After Lit class, the boys head to football practice, and we decide to eat a light lunch. We don't want to overeat because we need to save room for tonight. Dallas seemed excited about Jake cooking. He's cute when he pouts. "He never cooks for us anymore."
I laugh when I think about what he said. Sasha looks at me like I've sprouted a second head. We've been back in our dorm for a couple of hours now. Biology is going to kill me. "What's so funny about Biology?"
I laugh again. "I was thinking about your boyfriend pouting because Jake never cooks for them anymore."
She rolls her eyes. "Please. Dallas is not my boyfriend. However, that was cute. I'll give him that."
"Yes, it was. Say what you want, Sasha. Y'all have chemistry, so what's the deal?"
She shrugs. "Nothing. I don't want to be just another notch on his belt. He's cool, but he's not ready to settle into a monogamous relationship. I respect that, but I also respect myself too much to accept anything less."
I was right! They had talked about more. Our friendship is new, and I can't thoroughly read her moods yet. She seems okay, but is she? "Sasha, thank you for telling me. Are you okay? Do you need to talk about it? Do I need to beat him up so bad that he has to beg for mercy?"
She laughs. "As hilarious as that would be, I'm fine. We talked because he kept flirting with me, and for us to be friends, I needed him to realize it wasn't ever going to happen and that he needed to stop. We were both honest with each other, and it was awkward at first, but we're good now."
I hold my pinky out for a pinky promise. "I know that most of my attention has been on Jake, but please, talk to me. I want to know all the things. I want us to be close. I, Dani Constantine, solemnly promise that I won't ever put Sasha Hernandez on the friendship back burner and that I will tell her everything that goes on in my life, even if it's boring! Sisters before misters!"
She smiles widely and intertwines her pinky in mine. "I, Sasha Hernandez, solemnly promise that I won't ever put Dani Constantine on the friendship back burner and that I'll tell her everything going on in my life, and trust me, it won't ever be boring! Sisters before misters!"
We laugh, and pinky shake vigorously. I've read and highlighted the first three chapters of Bio, and I'm ready for a break. Sasha puts down her American Government book and sighs heavily. "I'm hungry already."
Were we separated at birth? "I've got a stash of assorted candies in my room."
"Where?"
"Second desk draw on the right."
She jumps up with a squeal. She excitedly brings the gallon Ziploc bag back to the couch. "You've got the good stuff."
"Yes, I do. Only trust chubby people to pack the right kind of snacks."
"Chubby folks got it going on, Hunny!"
"Yes, we do!"
She puts a Snickers mini in her mouth and chews softly. "So, what's up with you and lover boy?"
I shrug. "We're seeing where this goes, and I told Jake bluntly that I'm not ready for sex."
Her eyes grow big. "You told him that? I'm so proud of you for being honest with him! What do you think it means to see where things go?"
I shrug. "I honestly don't know what it means. I'm not going to sit around waiting for him to commit forever, but I think I owe it to both of us to see what happens."
