“Spill.” She placed a mug of coffee in front of me.

I crossed my legs, not saying anything, but letting the partially suppressed smile say everything.

“Come on. I know something happened. Even if everything didn’t happen. Talk to me. I need to live vicariously through you.” She cracked an egg and started mixing.

“What are you talking about? You were just out with some tourist from Ann Arbor last weekend.”

“That’s totally different. That’s a regular event for me. You’re all butterflies and rainbows with sex, and I need to experience it again. I’m like an old hag at this point.” She continued dipping her bread, and it sizzled on the pan as she dropped it in.

“Oh, please. You’re not an old hag.”

She threw her head back, laughing a bit. “Ah, I guess so, but stop changing the subject, I’m dying to know what happened with Johnny.”

“We kissed again.”

“And…” She looked over her shoulder at me, waiting.

“Some other stuff.” I trailed off, feeling my cheeks heat up.

“Yes?” She pulled the bacon out of the oven.

“At the karaoke night—”

She cut me off. “Karaoke night? I missed it!” She held up her hand. “Sorry, continue.”

I continued to tell her about being surprised by the karaoke, then going back to his place for a bonfire, then the kissing, then the partial lap dance, then him kneeling in front of me.

“Damn, girl.”

“What?” I looked at her, blowing my coffee.

“I’m impressed, is all. I didn’t think you’d actually go for it.” She lifted her mug. “Cheers to getting yours.”

“It was amazing, Megan.” I leaned back. “It’s just been so long since I’d let go like that, and trust me, the last time was nowhere near this good.”

“So, when are you two hanging out again?” She handed me a plate of her French toast and bacon.

“Not sure.” I took a bit of the bacon and tasted the salty goodness explode in my mouth.

My phone beeped, and I picked it up, grinning when I noticed who was texting.

Johnny: Last night was fun

Me: It was

Johnny: I figured we need to get everything set up with the donations and see what else we need. Does Thursday night work? Pizza at my house and go through it all?

Me: See you then

“Who was that?” Megan asked cheekily, seeming to know exactly who it was.

“Johnny and I are meeting up on Thursday to go through festival stuff.”

“Of course you are.” She rolled her eyes.

“What’s the eyeroll for?” I asked.

“You two are just too cute is all.” She smirked at me. “Almost like you really like him.”
