Chapter 22
Jaxxon
Pure, unadulterated rage rattles the bond, filling the pit of my stomach with terror for my mate. I’ve never felt this much anger off on anyone, let alone someone like her. Racing from the Antechamber, I leave the sickly, weak Alphas for Langston to attend to. He won’t need me for them. If I remember the map right, she should be close.
A feral scream rends the air, vibrating the stone. Following the sounds, I come to a locked door. A mirroring rage rises up in me as this barrier keeps me from her. Slamming my shoulder into the reinforced wood, anger simmers again as it doesn’t move. I stand back, running towards it and shoving myself against the unmoveable entrance. I doesn’t even budge. Again, I roar, drawing on my remaining strength. Over and over, I shove myself against the door, my brain screaming at me as I’m impeded by something as asinine as wood and steel.
It’s a lesson in futility, one that has me snarling, nearly foaming at the mouth as it refuses to move. Time is no longer a solid construct. I have no concept how long I’ve been at this, only the knowledge that my mate is still in there without my protection. Langston appears by my side, lending his strength to mine. We both attack it, pushing, shoving, kicking at times, until the door shatters open, revealing the grisly scene.
My mate looms over Caulder, her body soaked in his blood. Chunks of skin are missing from his body, as if an animal tore through it. She still claws at him, raking her nails into his eyes, even though he’s long past dead. I’ve heard of the omega rage, but until tonight, I’ve never seen it. She’s glorious in her fury, bathed in the crimson blood of her enemy.
Though deep down, I knew she wasn’t Annalise, tonight, I prayed the outcome was going to be different. Seeing her standing above him, reveling in his death, sends a thrum of relief through me. My cock surges forward as she swipes at him again, eyes completely black like she’s in heat, but not the same. Those same eyes turn to me, unseeing as she charges forward.
“Go put the High Echelon Alphas’ heads on a pike. I’ll deal with my mate.” Langston nods, a whiff of fear following in his wake. “Okay, my fierce, little omega. You’ve had your revenge. I need you to come back to me now.”
Snarling, her fingers curl as she darts towards me, but I hold her back, using my size as leverage. Once I can get a handhold, I take each wrist and pull in opposite directions, bringing her arms about her waist.
“Be still, omega. It’s me. It’s your mate.” Closing my eyes, I use my remaining strength to keep her from turning and lashing out at me. Letting loose my end of the bond, I flood her with love, bathing her from the inside with my affection. Moments go by, and she still struggles, but it’s weaker now, fainter.
Even when she’s unmoving, I still hold on, not taking a chance in case it’s a ploy. “Jaxxon?” Her voice is watery, full of emotions as she breaks down in my arms, sobbing as if her heart is breaking.
“Shhh, shhh, little omega. I have you. I’ve got you, my love.” Holding her close, I pull her into my arms, turning her so she can lay her head on my chest. We stand there for a long while, her sobbing while I rock her back and forth. Resting my lips against the crown of her head, I kiss her, not caring if she’s tainted with Caulder’s blood.
Reaching up, she grabs onto me, wrapping her legs around my waist grinding against me. The heat of her pussy sears me, even through my clothes. “Please,” she whispers, her voice laced with a heartfelt plea. “Please make me yours again. I need to know I belong to you, and you will always be here with me. When I couldn’t feel you, I thought the worst. I thought you were -.”
I silence her with my lips, conveying my undying love for her in ways that words could never say. Silently, we strip each other, bathing the moment in a hushed reverence. There are no hurried movements, just two lovers exploring every inch of each other, reveling in the touch of the other.
Her soft sighs as I skim her body go straight to my groin, but tonight, I let her set the pace. It’s the least I can do for my little warrior omega. Her small hands press against my chest, forcing me to lie down as she peppers my chest with small kisses. Groaning, I slide my hands into her hair, pulling her lips back up to mine for a deep, claiming kiss.
Straddling my hips, she pauses for a moment, staring down at me with such awe that it steals my breath. She lowers herself, groaning as I fill her completely. Annora rocks back and forth, her head thrown back in ecstasy. Gods, she’s gorgeous. My fingers pluck at her nipples, smiling as I’m rewarded with a filthy groan and a fluttering of her core.
I slide my hand around her back, locking her in place as I sit up, deepening the angle. From here, I’m able to devour her lips, kissing her as if there will be no tomorrow. With the way things are going, there may not be. Her breasts scrape against my chest as she rides me hard, seeking her pleasure from my cock.
Easing a hand in between us, I strum her clit, grinning as she freezes above me, body bowing back as a powerful orgasm rips through her. I grab her close, dragging her ankles around my body. Just like with Annalise, they don’t quite touch, and the memory brings a soft smile to my face. It’s not an erotic memory anymore, more like saying goodbye to an old friend.
Annora bucks against me as I walk us over to Caulder’s body. She doesn’t say a word as I lower her down onto his corpse as I slam into her, filling her on top of the man that would never satisfy her, the man that she tore apart with her bare hands. My knot swells, and I ram myself deep inside, biting back down on top of the mark.
Her blood fills my mouth as I claim her again, but this time, her head angles down a bit, enough that she bites me. What felt like strands between us, mere spiderwebs, conjoin to form deep roots, taking hold, digging deep into both of us. Sliding my hand up, I rest it on the back of her head, pushing her down, urging her to bite a little deeper.
On instinct, she widens her mouth, taking more of my skin and muscles into her, tearing into my flesh, making me feel more alive than ever before. With the bond we had, I didn’t realize how pale it was until she graced me with her mark. Most omegas don’t bless their mates like this, solidifying the bond. Oh, how much they are missing out.
What were once muted feelings blossoms and colorizes until I can feel the burgeoning orgasm fluttering through her. Shifting my hips, my knot hits that spot deep inside, the one that makes her toes curl and her eyes roll back into her skull. Her orgasm hits me as if it were my own. More cum pours out into her body, marking her as deep inside as she is on the outside.
We lay there, panting, reeling from the intensity of the new bond. I hold her close, skimming my fingers over every inch of available skin I can reach, fussing at the bruise purpling her cheek. Satiated, she lays in my arms, twirling her fingers over my skin.
After a bit, my knot softens, and I pull out, scattering our combined fluids over the floor to mix with Caulder’s blood. I wouldn’t have it any other way. We’re both silent as we dress again, the bond humming with our contentment. Walking out hand in hand, we bypass the Antechamber and walk down the stairs. The hall is silent, filled with the bodies of the dead. So much blood has been spilled tonight, but perhaps now Stanlion can flourish as the dead soak into the ground, watering the earth as the stench and rotten decay of gluttony washes away.
Glancing over at Annora, I smile as she walks next to me, blood dripping from her clothes and hair. She’s never looked more beautiful. Even as bits of skin and muscle from Caulder glisten in the fading light, I find myself craving her yet again. The bond hums between us, not a trace of fear or anger coming from it. It’s as if she’s depleted of everything but her love for me.
The river of agony that fed her rage has abated somewhat, but I know there will be a resurgence once her heart and mind catch up to her after she recovers from tonight. There’s a part of her brain that’s shielded, shut off so she can function, just like a soldier coming home from battle. But it will come back to her. It will always come back. When it does, I’ll be here to gather Annora into my arms and comfort her in any way she needs - whether that’s tenderness or pain.
Langston slides in next to me, a hunk of metal in his hands. It takes me a moment, but I recognize the crown of the past monarchs that used to rule Stanlion. Pulling Annora behind me, I look down at the crown then back up at Langston. “Where did you find that?”
He doesn’t answer. Instead, he looks out to the courtyard where betas and Alphas gather, forcing the enemy Guardians into the open space in the middle. “You’ve disposed of their rulers. They will need a king.”
Shock thrums through my body, and I stand there, speechless, barely even registering the light caress of Annora’s hand as she strokes my arm. “I can’t be their king.”
“Who then? This land hasn’t seen a good ruler since the last of the monarchy. You already have the betas and Alphas behind you. The way you led them tonight, the way you took up the mantle for Gemhardt...They would have asked him, but he’s no longer an option.”
