there’s no way I can leave now, not with his Macallan 30 sitting prominently on the bar. I wanted
revenge, and now it’s literally within my grasp.
“Shots for everyone!” I cry out, not caring how hysterical I must sound.
Just looking at the bottle makes my insides twist as I picture everything of his being gone from my
apartment. I hope this hurts him as much as he hurt me.
“Noooooooo,” Klara counters, holding the bottle in her arms. “Do you know how expensive this
is? You don’t just do shots with it.”
Master Spencer comes up behind her and wraps his arms around her waist. “I feel that it’s only
fair that Lila determines what happens to it. And you’re going to be a good girl and do shots along
with everyone else.”
Grumbling, Klara leans up and pecks him on the lips before setting the bottle back down and
lining up glasses for everyone. I can see the wince as she pours it, as if it’s physically painful for her
to do this.
“Look,” I offer, not wanting her to be so put out. “We don’t have to—”
Spencer crosses his arms and pins me with a fierce scowl. “Oh yes, we do. We can’t let this
jackass get away with hurting you like that.”
Before I can protest, everyone gathers around, reaching for the glasses. Master Spencer does have
a point, and for some reason, this feels more like just desserts than anything else.
“Settle down everyone,” Klara calls out from behind the bar. “This is how things are going to go
down. Everyone is going to get a shot. We’re going to drink this whiskey neat, since it is such a fine
vintage, and Lila gets what’s left. Ready?”
A chorus of yes es ring out, sending warmth running through me, displacing the cold emptiness. I
should have known the Masters and submissives of Black Light would help ease this pain; I just had
to trust them.
“Master Spencer. For just this once, would I be allowed to bring in my phone and take a video of
this? That way I can watch it when I’m feeling sad?”
He looks over the crowd and crosses his arms. “Those that do not wish to be captured on camera,
come stand behind me. Everyone else, stay at the bar. Yes, you can go get your phone, Lila.”
Nodding, I walk back to the entrance where my belongings lay forgotten on the floor. I didn’t even
have time to put them in a locker. Picking up my phone, I once more look to see if there’s a text.
