the others. “You don’t have to like that I use Eastern techniques to help people. But understand this.

You will never put me in a compromising position when it comes to my livelihood ever again.”

A soft sigh escapes his lips as he shuffles toward me, one hand still holding onto his pants, so they

don’t fall down. “We will have to agree to disagree about the validity of your methods, but it’s clear

that you act in what you feel is a clinical, professional manner. I’ll never take advantage of that again.

The only time I’ll ever proposition you is on the main floor of Black Light.” His heated gaze slides

over me and I nearly melt under its intensity.

My heart thumps hard in my chest as I stare up at his mesmerizing eyes. This is exactly what I

wanted; however, now that he’s shown what an ass he can be, I’m not sure how anything would

actually work between us. He’s just so fucking egotistical and arrogant. Would there be any way to

work past that? Despite the desperate chokehold I have on my emotions, a few errant tears decide to

I LOOK AT THE WOMAN BEFORE ME, SURROUNDED BY SO MANY SUPPORTERS. THERE’S NO WAY SHE’S

duped every single one of them. Perhaps there’s more to her than I originally thought. Bringing my

hand up to my shoulder, I realize that the normal tension is lessened.

A sigh escapes my lips as I pull my pants the rest of the way up and button them. I may not agree

with her methods, but as a human, I could have been a little less harsh. What was I even thinking?

Deep down, I know I shouldn’t have propositioned her, but for some reason, the fact that she was at

Black Light and a known submissive made me think she was putting on an act. Role Playing.

I know Austin is devoted to Kit. I know Spencer would die for Klara. And yet, both of them see

Lila for treatment. Even as the words were spilling out of my mouth, I knew that Austin would never

cheat on Kit. He’s far too devoted to her to even glance at someone else.

It was my hubris that led me here, my prejudice against her profession that allowed me to be

misled. Not to mention the fact that I didn’t read the fucking fine print. As a surgeon, I know better.

Too many in my field have lost their jobs over the fine print.

Kawan was certainly quick to remind me of that. Reaching out, I go to cup Lila’s face but pull
