Shoving all thoughts out of my head, I concentrate on how he makes me feel. Every touch is for my pleasure, even when it hurts. This is what I’ve been missing. He pulls back out and inserts three at least, stretching me out.

Keening moans claw at my throat as I rock my hips back and forth, fucking myself on his hand. So close. So fucking close. Everything in me seizes. My body tightens, my insides coiling.

Pleasure unlike anything I’ve ever known races through my body. Explosions shatter me, breaking me open. Oh God. This. This is what I’ve read about but never experienced. This is what I’ve wanted from Grant that he refused to give me.

Or maybe he just didn’t know how? However, based on the sounds Jessica was making, the same sounds that ring out through the air, he knew exactly what he was doing with her. He just refused to give me that same courtesy.

Why? What was it about me that made me so undesirable? Why would he refuse to let me feel this? Instead of reveling in the pleasure Rory bestows on me, all I want to do is curl into a ball and sob.

Tears race down the sides of my face as anger surges through me. It’s not fair. None of this is fair. I want him to pay, but how? How can I get revenge on someone when their only crime is not fucking me right? Well, that and cheating on me.

But somehow, knowing that I’m not broken, that I can orgasm with the best of them makes me even more furious than his infidelity. He held back on me, made me think I was the problem. And that is unforgivable.

I do my best to keep everything in check, but my orgasm seems to be the crack in the damn, the fissure that lets all the pressure off. I don’t want Rory to see me sobbing, but I can’t help it.

Turning my face to the side, doing my best to hide from him, I cry as if my heart might break. The useless organ threatens to burst. But instead of judging me, Rory simply unhooks everything and holds me in his arms.

The words he says make no sense. I cannot understand them. But I don’t have to. His muscular arms wrapping around me are all the words I need to hear. His body can certainly do the talking, because for the first time in a while, I feel at peace.

Yes, my head is pounding.

Yes, I want to throw up.

Yes, I want to rip both Grant and Jessica limb from limb.

But for now, I simply purge my body and my mind, letting myself drift away on the nonsensical words Rory whispers in my ear.

CHAPTER 6

Rory

Candice quivers in my arms, and it tears at my heart. Normally, I don’t give two shits about the pain of mortals, and yet, something about her soft tears calls to me. She curls up into a tight ball, crying as if her heart is breaking.

I don’t even know what to say. Even when I was a human, I didn’t much care for the tears of women. It made me angry, especially when I couldn’t do anything about it.

And so, I hold her close, repeatedly telling her it’s okay. I still have no clue what happened, but it doesn’t take a genius to know it involves her wedding. Turning her in my arms, I stare down at her tear-stained face.

Misery is etched in every facet, and all I want to do is rip, tear, and maim. Glancing up at the clock in the back, I frown, noting just how close we are to being done in this room.

But I’m not finished with Candice, not by a longshot. Something in her calls to me, connects us. I felt it the moment I tasted her blood. It was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced.

All I know is that I want more. Both Heaven and Hell help whoever tries to take her from me… Even Candice herself. I cup her face in my hands and look into the depths of her soul.

Yes, there’s pain there, but there’s also unbridled fury, rage that she can’t seem to get out of her system. Infusing my words with my iron will, I command her to tell me what happened.

I sit there, body rigid as she pours out her sad tale. Grant must die. That’s the only option I can see. Nothing else will make up for the betrayal he caused.

Again, I hold her close, letting her hiccup against me. “I can make the pain go away.”

“Oh really?” Her tone is jaded and just a touch suspicious. “More sex?”

“Unfortunately, we don’t have the time at the present for me to do everything I want to you. However, I’m willing to give you a choice. Say you’ll be mine, allow me to bite you and turn you into a vampire, and you shall have your revenge.”

She’s still in my arms, and for a few moments, I worry she didn’t hear me. But soon, she tilts her head back, hysterical laughter on her lips. This isn’t the reaction I was expecting.

How can the other vampires be so suave, and yet somehow, I’m fumbling this up like an idiot? The way she looks at me is different now. It’s not the awe and respect from just moments ago. She must think I’m an idiot or crazy, and I’m now, I’m wondering the same.

“Sure,” she wheezes, extending her neck. “I never thought I’d play vampire tonight but go ahead. Bite me.” Another peal of laughter bubbles from her lips.
