Then her forehead smashed into my chin, and her hands pushed at my chest before they slapped against her mouth. She was retching.

“Lilly?”

She shook her head, still gagging. Her small hands were on her mouth and stomach, shoulders heaving. Instantly, I stepped away and looked for something she could throw up in.

But I was too late. She jolted forward, and vomit flew from her lips. Her fingers caged none of it, and whatever she’d eaten was in a wet pile on the floor between us.

She scrambled away from me, clutching desperately at the bucket I found. I got up, stripped off my shirt and used it to mop up the mess.

With her eyes still closed, she yelled, “Uh, Trev, stay there, okay? I’ll be out in a minute.”

I could hear the longing in his voice as he asked, “Can I come back there?”

As she looked from the open doorway back to me, squatting shirtless on the ground, I could tell she was panicked.

“No, no, I’m almost done.” She lowered her voice and hissed at me. “Put something on. No. Hide in the studio. Quick, quick.”

Then Trevor called out, “I’m coming back there,” and the color drained from Lilly’s face.

I opened my mouth to speak, but… fuck it. What was the point?

She was clearly anxious about Trevor seeing me here, alone and shirtless, with her. I slipped out of sight and hid in the doorway of the studio apartment, filthy shirt in my hand, watching as Trevor walked in, and Lilly pulled something black from her giant bag of textbooks.

“What’s all this? Where’s Mia?” Trevor asked, gesturing to the mess of blankets, cushions and cupcakes.

“Just, um, Mia had to go, so I was about to clean all this up.”

“Can you leave it for tomorrow?”

She bit her bottom lip, nodded, then disappeared into the bathroom. When she came out, she was dressed in a tight, strapless dress.

It hugged the curves I’d been dying to touch, cutting just shy of her thigh, grazing the edge of her plump ass. Her hair was down, flowing past her shoulders in a wave that framed her face. Her eyes were darkened, lips re-glossed, puke gone. Gorgeous.

“Can you pick one of the pastries for me while I pack my bag, Trev? I’m starved.”

He smirked as he put his hands around her waist, and I saw red. If I ever got the chance, I’d rip off his fingers one by one.

“But we’re going out to eat.”

“Please? I’m so hungry.”

He glanced down at the tray of cupcakes, shrugged, and did as she asked.

Once he was gone, she trotted to me, heels tapping against the floorboards.

She whispered, “I’m sorry.”

“What’s he doing here?”

“He wanted to take me out after I finished studying.”

I shook my head. “You told him I was Mia? Why didn’t you–never mind. Just go. I’ll clean all this.”

“But–”

“Go. It’s okay.”

Humiliation crossed her features, and I wished I could be the one to kiss that look from her face. “I can’t just leave you to clean up, after what I just did–”
