“I should probably tell you now. This is my favorite thing in the world. I’m going to enjoy eating your sweet pussy so much. And with the way your scent is enticing me, you can expect to have to drag my tongue from your depths to get me to stop.”

“Please,” she begged, utterly wrecked and breathless. “I want you so—”

A sudden ringtone pierced the air, shattering the moment like glass against a wall. The familiar sound echoed through the room, accompanied by the strong hum of a vibrating phone against a hard surface.

The sound cut through the heavy breathing with an unwelcome urgency. It was as if the universe, or well, Sebastian Caruso, had x-ray vision or a goddamn camera on us.

“Are you fucking kidding me right now?”

The words ripped out of me before I could stop them. Isabella flinched. Regret flashed across her face. We stared at one another, suspended in the wreckage of the moment. Her pupils blown wide, and her kiss-swollen lips parted.

With a frustrated sigh, I lowered her legs, missing the heat of her instantly. With a sharp breath, I dragged myself off her and reached for the stupid phone. My jaw was clenched so tight that it ached.

Damn him and his sixth sense. With a controlled breath, I looked down at Isabella. She looked confused, like she was still deep in the moment.

“I have to take this. It’s your brother.”

That did it. Her expression snapped into awareness. “Oh my God,” she breathed, scrambling upright and covering herself with both hands. “What did we do?”

“No,” I growled, angry at the situation. “We aren’t doing that.”

Her eyes lifted to mine.

“I’m going to take this cock-blocker’s call,” I muttered, already swiping to answer, “and then we are going to talk.”

I hit accept and stepped away from the bed, putting distance between us. The asshole had the absolute worst fucking timing in all the world.

“Hey,” I answered.

Behind me, the duvet rustled. Isabella yanked it up over herself like we’d just been caught committing a felony. That alone pissed me off more than the call.

Sebastian’s voice boomed in my ear—already mid-lecture.

I walked toward the fireplace and flipped it on, needing something to do with my hands. They suddenly felt empty. The soft whoosh of ignition filled the room. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Bella scramble off the bed and dart for the dresser.

Her round ass jiggled as she grabbed leggings and a T-shirt with shaking hands. She bolted for the bathroom like she needed a physical barrier between us.

“Can you quit with this shit already?” I bit out, pacing. “I heard you the first time. Three weeks ago. And every day since.”

He didn’t stop talking.

“And what the fuck are you calling this late for?” I glanced at the clock. “It’s one in the morning your time. Are you drunk?”

Well, that didn’t end the way I thought it was going to. I stared at my reflection in the mirror. My skin was still flushed, lips swollen, eyes glassy. I ran my fingers over my sensitive nipples, remembering that a minute ago they were in his mouth. And if my damned brother hadn’t called, my pussy would be right at this moment.

I sighed. Maybe it was for the best.

“You’re asking for trouble,” I muttered to the woman in the mirror.

Through the door, Pasha’s conversation drifted through. The words were low and clipped at the edges. I couldn’t hear Sebastian, but I didn’t need to. The tension in Lev’s tone said it all. He was pacifying my brother. Again.

I got dressed and then straightened up the messy bathroom. Anything to buy myself another thirty seconds to steady my thoughts.

But I couldn’t avoid this forever. Best to rip the Band-Aid off. I opened the door just as he ended the call and tossed his phone onto the chair with more force than necessary. He turned at the sound of my throat clearing.

“We should talk,” I said.

My stomach growled. Loudly. Mortified, I slapped a hand over it like that would help. His jaw twitched. Then he smiled. Then I did. And just like that, we were both laughing.
