She said nothing, so he slowed his pace. Breathlessly, she called his name in protest.

“Answer me,” he growled threateningly. And it only heightened her arousal.

“Yes,” she whimpered.

“Such a dirty little whore,” he murmurs appraisingly. Normally, that kind of thing would turn her off, but the way he said it, and the tone of his voice, only fueled her next release. She could feel her body temperature rising and the heat coiling tightly in her lower abdomen. Her whimpers became moans so deep that she didn’t even recognize her own voice anymore.

“Are you going to cum again, sweetheart?”

She nodded and bit her lip. She didn’t trust her voice to come out anything but shaky.

He angled himself so that the tip of his cock focused on her g-spot, and it was enough to send her over the edge. She came with a cry of pleasure, her legs quivering around him.

“That’s my girl,” he cooed. “Show Kata what I’m doing to you. Show her what she’ll never have.”

She caught it. Even in her pleasure-induced state, she had caught the words. His girl.

She looked up and locked eyes with him, and saw that he meant it, which had to be a huge thing for him, a vulnerable state to even mention the words. And it was a big thing for her too.

What did this mean for where they stood? Were they going to give this bond a real shot, or did he still plan to free her with his death? Those were all questions that she made a mental note to ask later.

“Stop,” Kata said, though it sounded funny with her having no lips. “Not fair.”

Carly looked over at her, uncaring how she felt when Carly herself felt so good. She was too focused on what Landon was doing to her, on what he was confessing to her, on how he was making her feel, both emotionally and physically, that she almost forgot she was there for a second.

Landon dug his fingers into her thighs possessively. “Should have taken better care of your mate then,” he ground out as he continued to pound into Carly. She could feel an orgasm rising, and she knew it was going to shatter her. “You may have lost yours, but she’s mine. I’ll take care of her until my last breath. Unlike you, I’ll keep mine safe. She’s my number one priority.”

His claim to her was enough to send her over the edge. Her orgasm hit full force, and she gripped onto his arms to keep herself upright. He moved his arm to support her back, and his breathing became ragged before he stilled inside her, releasing.

Both of them were panting as they came down from their pleasure, and once they did, he rested his forehead against hers as he caught his breath. “You asked for this, Carly, and now you’re mine. I’m never letting you go.”

It touched her in some deep place, a place she had kept hidden inside of her. It made her want to bare her soul to him, so she confessed, “I love you, Landon.” And nothing felt more right than those few words.

Her proclamation clearly caught him off guard. He stiffened and remained quiet for a moment as he searched her eyes. He must have seen the truth behind her words because he whispered, “I love you too.”

Kata laughed weakly. Color was already returning to her cheeks due to the time they spent fucking each other. Her healing had obviously kicked in, and she was regaining her strength. Even her torn lips were scabbed over. “It won’t last long,” she hissed. “Once your father finds out about her, if he doesn’t know already, he will kill her too, just like he did to Theodore.”

Landon growled so low that Carly could feel it in her chest. “If I have to protect her against my own father, I will do so. I can handle Drayton Creed.”

She turned Landon’s face toward hers and pressed her lips to his. She didn’t care what Kata thought. They would survive whatever was thrown at them. She was sure of it. If that meant they had to run, then so be it. She would live on the run so long as they could be together.

Landon slowly pulled out of her. He headed to the kitchen, grabbed a hand towel, and came back to clean Carly. Then, he helped her off the table. Both of them dressed, and when Carly was buttoning up her pants, she asked, “So what do we do now?” She didn’t mean with Kata. They had a lot on their plate now that they had decided to see this through, to give in to their feelings for one another. They needed to come up with a plan, for both of their lives and for Kata.

Landon pulled his pants up over his hips and left them unbuttoned. He walked over to Kata. Slowly, he circled her, his hands loosely at his sides. When passing her front, he grabbed the knife from her thigh. Blood spurted until it began to ooze from the wound, the spurting blood coating Landon’s pants for a moment.

He circled around until he was behind her. Carly didn’t know what he was going to do, but when he brought the knife to her throat and slashed it within a split second, she hadn’t expected that.

Kata choked and spluttered. Blood poured from her neck and down her collarbones, soaking her coat in a deep crimson. The color was so beautiful, so dark and full of life, that Carly couldn’t help but stare. But soon, the blood slowed down.

Carly lifted her gaze to the wound only to see that was beginning to heal.

Landon slashed the gash again. She looked away from the scene and up at Landon’s face. His expression was carefully blank like he was in some other place. Like the sight of blood sent him there and he rested in peace. He was beautiful. She still didn’t know how that made her feel, that she might be just as twisted as him, but she was still sure of one thing: She loved him. He was hers, and she was his.

Carly hadn’t looked away from Landon as he slashed again and again until Kata started going limp from the blood loss. Hand slick with blood, he dropped the knife to the floor. It clattered by his feet. Leisurely, he gripped her chin and the back of her head. Carly wasn’t able to see the whole thing because of the speed, but one minute Kata had her head, and the next, she didn’t.

Landon stared at the body, the head still in his hands. It seemed to take him a moment before he remembered that he wasn’t alone in the room, but eventually, he met Carly’s studying gaze. His jaw flexed when she didn’t look away.

“Are you okay?” he asked.
