Rubbing my face, I’m groggy as hell. “What time is it?”
“Six… the end of the workday… the one you mostly missed… the day you have had everyone conspire to keep me out of the loop. You must have fallen asleep when you kidnapped our son away from the office,” she relays my day to a T.
Smiling, I’m relieved that she doesn’t seem angry. “I didn’t want you to have a rough first day back.”
She sets the wine glass down and walks to me, looping her arms around my waist. “I know. It’s sweet. I love you for it.”
“Well, hopefully tomorrow he behaves. He threw up on my suit.”
“Yikes. He is sleeping now, it seems.”
I nod. “Yeah, I also saw Patrick, and you’re right. I’ve kept my shares.”
“Good.”
“I guess we are finding a new routine, huh?”
She rests her head against my chest. “We are. But I want to add something to it.”
“Please tell me it has nothing to do with baby logistics,” I plead.
Her head tips back, and she wiggles her finger side to side before bopping my nose. “As long as you don’t get me pregnant again, it doesn’t. I think I need to release a little steam from my first day back, and because you most definitely deserve one…”
“What?”
“I’m going to get on my knees and enjoy one of my favorite things about you.” Her sultry voice helps me guess where this is going, proven when she begins to slide down my body.
“If this involves my cock then I’m very on board with our new routine.”
She nods slowly as she peers up at me, and her delicate fingers pull down the zipper on the side of her dress. She slides down her sleeves and is quick to unhook her bra to leave her topless with her gorgeous, full breasts on display.
She works my jeans to spring me free. “Tonight you fuck my mouth, and tomorrow you can fuck me.”
My fingers thread through her hair. “This is why I love you. But make no mistake, I’m fucking you until you come after I fill your mouth.”
EPILOGUE: FOSTER
ONE YEAR LATER
I’m trying desperately not to laugh while I drive us out of the city into rural lands to the west. The highway is flat and not busy. My wife sits in the front seat of the car, arms folded and scowling.
“I fucking blame you,” Sutton seethes.
“Babe, we save the F-word for work and our playtime, not in the presence of Junior back there,” I remind her and tip my head in Levi’s direction in the back.
She growls. “How can this be? You said you were joking last time around!”
Now, I have to release my smirk. “I was! You heard the doctor, it wouldn’t have mattered anyway.”
I try to focus on the road, but I have to glance to my side when she gawks her eyes at me.
“Foster, I’m pregnant with twins!”
Yeah, so one more baby was the plan, and that is not what happened.
We found out this morning at her doctor’s appointment. I’m going to blame shock on her current mood. At least, we’re now a step up from complete quiet as she was earlier.
“I don’t know what you want me to say. It’s going to be alright, and we sure as hell can’t go back in time to change conception.”
