“The alternative was watching you go into the creek, sweetheart. I think Glimmer would take offense to that,” he said breathlessly.
Callum slowly withdrew from my pussy, fixing my clothes and then his own. I hugged him tightly. “Next time we stay on the ground. No more acrobatics.”
“It was quite impressive. Oh, baby. Your poor hands are scraped up.” He turned over each of my palms, kissing each one as if apologizing for the wounds.
“Worth it. So very worth it. I promise.”
We laid out on the blanket as the sun dipped lower in the sky. I listened to the steady sound of his heart beating underneath my head as I cuddled into his chest. Callum soothed me without even saying a word. I could stay here forever lying on him while he played with my hair.
I stared up through the tree canopy as the sky turned golden around the edges. I thought about the plot he’d bought for me next to Nana and Tuts. The deeper meaning in a simple gesture. Callum ensured I was taken care of even if he wasn’t here. I didn’t want to think about the possibility of losing him first but he kept reassuring me that he was staying. Forever.
“Time to head back, babygirl.”
“I know. We should do this again soon. Can we?”
“We will. Things have settled, we’ll have more time to do nothing together. Whenever you want.”
Callum stood first and helped me to my feet. We rolled up the blanket and walked to the horses. We untied Glimmer first and he gave me a boost. I settled into the saddle and ran my hands through her mane.
“Is your sweet mare offended?” He kept hold of Cedar’s reins while untying him. We didn’t need a repeat of the other day.
“No, she’s quite content. So am I.”
“I hope so. You’re glowing,” he said, mounting Cedar.
“All your fault.”
“I’ll gladly take the blame.”
He led us to the path home. The air felt warmer even with the sun setting. A huge weight had been lifted off my shoulders and I hadn’t noticed. I’d been too busy enjoying the moments afterward, something else I wasn’t used to.
The ride home through the meadows, our meadows, I reminded myself, was unhurried.
Cedar matched Glimmer’s pace, the two of them simply moving together as if they’d been doing it their whole lives. And I guess they had. Above us the sky settled into a shade of pink that Nana used to lovingly call Tuts’ favorite color. I was fairly certain he never commented on any colors, yet alone a pink hue, but she said it anyway.
Glancing at Callum, I bit my lip. He rode easy, one hand on the reins and the other planted on his thigh. The fading light brought color to his face adding to his gorgeous features rather than detracting from them.
“You’re staring at me, beautiful girl. See something you like?”
“I love you, Daddy.”
He glanced over at me, a cocky smirk playing on his lips. “Do you only love me because your bottom is feeling every step Glimmer is taking?”
Yes, I felt the lingering sting from his spanking. While he wasn’t wrong, it was bigger than that. “No, Daddy. It’s because my heart is feeling it.”
Callum’s smirk softened into a smile that lit up his whole face. “Babygirl, that’s the sweetest thing anyone has ever said to me. I love you, Quinn. I’ll love you until I take my last breath on this earth, but that’s not going to be for a long time. Now that you’re mine, I’m not going to let you go.”
“I can handle that.” My eyes must have given me away because he tsked.
“What are you planning?”
Giggling, I squeezed my thighs together urging Glimmer to gallop. “Race you home! Yah!”
“Naughty brat! Daddy’s going to win.”
Tossing a glance over my shoulder, I saw Cedar galloping behind us. “What’s that? You’ll what? I can’t hear you!”
“Laugh it up, little girl. You won’t be laughing when I get through with you,” he yelled across the meadow, his voice thick with amusement.
