“Bit harsh.”

Connor rolls his eyes, but the glance he sends towards the road gives him away. His attention shifts back to the house, teeth catching around his bottom lip, considering his options, mine staying fixed there.

I drag them back to his.

“I’ll go slow for you, promise.”

I throw in a wink because apparently nearly kissing him the last time we were this close taught me absolutely fucking nothing.

Connor’s glare sharpens. “You’re disgusting.”

There’s barely any bite behind it, though, and a moment later he’s pulling the helmet over his head.

A grin spreads across my face, as he approaches the bike, cautious in a way Connor would probably stab me for pointing out. His hand lands on my shoulder before he swings himself on behind me, and my grin disappears the moment he settles.

Fuck, he’s right there.

Chest against my back, thighs bracketing my hips, close enough that the memory of flashing lights and his body moving against mine comes back far too easily. He goes stiff behind me, fingers resting carefully on my shoulders while he holds the rest of himself back, but there’s nowhere for him to go. Every breath still presses his chest into my back, and all that effort only makes me more aware of him.

I curl my hands around the handlebars, staring straight ahead, his hesitation a lot less entertaining when I’m noticing every place he’s trying not to touch me.

“You gonna hold on or what?”

There’s a rasp buried in the words that definitely wasn’t there thirty seconds ago.

Connor’s hands leave my shoulders, slipping down my sides as his arms come around me, slow enough that I feel the entire journey, and the muscles beneath his arms tense when they settle around my waist.

Behind me, Connor blows out an irritated breath and drops his forehead briefly between my shoulder blades.

“Don’t make this weird,” he mutters.

I bite back a laugh as I start the bike, the engine kicking to life beneath us. Connor’s arms tighten around my waist, pulling himself firmly against my back.

“Bit late for that, princess.”
