“I bought something else.”
“For me?”
“No.”
His face twisted. “Then why the fuck I care?”
I laughed. “Because it’s not for me either.”
That got his attention.
I reached inside and pulled out the tiny outfit I had come across while shopping with Drayla. Kyrie went silent, and for somebody who always had some shit to say, that alone had me watching him.
“It’s for the baby.”
His eyes stayed on it for a second before he finally took it from me. The little outfit looked even smaller in his big-ass hands.
“Damn,” he muttered.
“What?”
He shook his head, running his thumb across the fabric. “Nothing.”
“Kyrie.”
“I’m just looking at it, ma.”
His voice had gotten quieter, and the look on his face did something to my chest.
“It’s tiny, huh?”
“Hell yeah.”
I smiled. “I saw it and couldn’t leave it.”
He looked at it again before his eyes slowly came to mine.
“You really having my baby.”
A soft laugh escaped me. “I mean, that’s what the tests said.”
“Nawl, I know.” He looked back down at the little outfit. “It’s just different seeing shit like this.”
I understood exactly what he meant.
Everything was happening so fast. Kyrie leaned back against the couch, still holding the outfit.
“You know I'm finna spoil the fuck out this baby, right?”
I laughed. “I already know.”
“I’m talking bad.”
“And that’s exactly what I’m worried about.”
“Shit, you might as well get used to it.” He finally looked at me, that familiar cocky smile slowly returning. “My baby wants something, my baby getting it.”
“See, that’s how you create spoiled children.”
