“Nawl. What people say about me don’t bother me.” I paused, my jaw tightening slightly. “It’s when they start dragging my wife into shit that I got a problem.”

Sianni’s thumb brushed across my hand.

“I think that’s been the hardest part for him,” she added. “Kyrie is used to people talking about him because of football. I’m not.”

“And she shouldn’t have to be.”

“But I married you,” she said, looking at me. “So, some of it comes with the territory.”

“Don’t mean I gotta like that shit.”

A small smile pulled at her lips. “I know.”

The interviewer watched us for a second before moving on.

“And now you're preparing for another major change. Congratulations are apparently in order.”

Sianni smiled. “Thank you.”

I couldn't stop the grin that spread across my face.

Hell yeah, they were.

“You recently confirmed that you're expecting your first child together. How are you both feeling about becoming parents?”

“I'm ready,” I answered.

Sianni turned toward me. “You say that now.”

“The fuck that mean?”

She laughed. “Kyrie, you don't know what that baby is going to be like.”

“Don’t matter. That's my baby.”

“What if the baby cries all night?”

“I'll get up.”

Her eyebrows lifted.

I frowned. “Why you looking at me like that?”

“I'm just remembering you complaining because I moved around too much in bed.”

“That ain't the same shit.”

The interviewer laughed. “So, you're volunteering for night duty?”

“Hell yeah.”

Sianni stared at me.

“What?”

“I'm going to remember you said that.”

“Remember it.”
