“Because I can show you again.”

“Sianni, I said I got it.”

I lifted my hands. “Okay. Go ahead.”

Kyrie dipped his brush into the paint and began working on his canvas while I returned to mine. For the first few minutes, the room grew surprisingly quiet.

I glanced over. His brows were furrowed as he worked, his attention fixed on the canvas. A smile tugged at my lips.

I turned back to my own painting before he caught me staring and went back to work.

A few minutes later, I heard him suck his teeth. I ignored him. He did it again. My lips twitched.

“Don’t.”

I glanced over innocently. “Don’t what?”

“Whatever the fuck you finna say.”

“I wasn’t going to say anything.”

“You lying.”

“I’m really not.”

Kyrie looked at my canvas, then back at his. His face twisted as he studied both.

“Why the fuck does yours look like that?”

I pressed my lips together.

“And mine look like this?”

My shoulders started shaking.

“Sianni.”

“I’m not laughing!”

“You fucking laughing right now.”

“I’m trying not to!”

“Man, fuck you.”

That did it. I burst out laughing. Kyrie stared at his canvas for another second before looking back at mine.

“Nawl, come help me with this shit.”

“What happened to this being a new day?”

“Don’t start.”

“What happened to yours coming out better than mine?”

“Sianni.”

I laughed as I put my brush down. “Okay, okay.”
