“You know the baby is still little as hell, right?”
“And?”
“And you rubbing my stomach like it’s a whole basketball in there.”
“I don’t give a fuck how big my baby is.” His hand moved slowly over my stomach. “Still in there.”
I placed my hand over his.
“You happy?”
His brows lifted. “The fuck kind of question is that?”
“A regular one.”
“Hell yeah, I’m happy.”
I smiled, and he kissed the side of my face before turning the question back on me.
“You happy?”
That one hit a little differently.
I looked down at our hands resting over my stomach.
“Yeah,” I said softly. “I really am.”
“Good.”
“I think this is the first appointment where I actually let myself enjoy it.”
His arm tightened around me.
“I could tell.”
I turned slightly in his lap. “You could?”
“Yeah. Last time, you were in your fucking head the whole time.”
“I was scared.”
“I know.”
“But today…” I looked down at my stomach again. “I don’t know. Seeing the baby moving around and hearing that everything is okay made it feel different.”
Kyrie kissed my temple.
“Because everything is different.”
I smiled.
“And now you’re finna be even more annoying.”
“Damn right.”
I laughed. “I knew it.”
“Shit, the doctor just told me my baby is good. You think I’m about to stop checking on y’all now?”
