“And yet you keep having my babies.”

My mouth dropped open.

“Kyrie!”

He laughed harder while I tried my best not to wake our daughter by smacking the shit out of him.

“You are so damn aggravating.”

“Come here.”

“I don’t wanna come nowhere.”

“Ma.”

“What?”

“Bring your fine ass here.”

Before I could tell him no again, his arm tightened around me and pulled me closer.

I sucked my teeth, but I let him.

Of course, I did.

He kissed the side of my head before resting his hand back over my stomach.

“You happy?” he asked.

The question caught me off guard.

I looked up at him.

He wasn’t smiling anymore.

He was really asking.

My eyes dropped to our daughter resting peacefully against his chest before moving to his hand covering my stomach.

Then, I looked back at my husband.

“Yeah.”

And I meant that shit.

I was happy.

Not because everything in my life had magically become perfect. It hadn’t.

But everything that mattered was right here.

My husband.

Our daughter.

Another baby on the way.

And a life neither of us expected when we first agreed to that crazy-ass marriage.
