“Nawl.” Kyrie shook his head. “I ain’t never been to that fool shit.”
“Bet.” Zeek nodded once. “He got kids? A wife? Family? Anything?”
“Nawl.” Kyrie’s expression stayed flat. “The nigga was too busy trying to push up on my wife. That’s why I had to beat his ass.”
“Bet. Gotcha.”
I already knew that look on Zeek’s face. That answer was exactly what his ass wanted to hear.
“Yeah, but how your girl doing?” Kyrie asked, switching gears.
“She good.”
“Good.”
Zeek leaned back against the couch. “Yeah, I heard yo’ wife went on a trip.”
Kyrie let out a slow breath and took another sip of his Gatorade.
“Yeah… and I ain’t even want her to go.”
“And why not?”
“’Cause she’s carrying my baby.” Kyrie shrugged like it was obvious. “I ain’t want her ass away from me.”
I couldn’t help but laugh. This was the same nigga who used to swear he wasn’t settling down for nobody. Now look at him. Married, talking about his wife every damn five minutes, and ready to put somebody in the ground if they so much as looked at her wrong.
And honestly… I fucked with this version of my cousin. He wasn’t running through women anymore. Everything in him revolved around Sianni and that baby, and I couldn’t do nothing but respect it.
“Damn, nigga.” Zeek looked between us. “So, yo’ ass done got married and got a baby on the way. What the fuck else I been missing?”
“Shit…” I laughed. “A lot.”
I leaned back into the couch. “I ain’t with Alexia’s ass no more.”
The words had barely left my mouth before Zeek choked on his Gatorade.
“Pffft!”
The spray caught Kyrie across the shoulder and the side of his face.
“Damn, bruh.” Kyrie snatched a napkin off the table and wiped himself off. “Watch where the hell you spitting, dawg.”
“My bad.” Zeek was still laughing. “But hell nawl… I never thought this nigga would leave that damn girl.”
“Shit…” Kyrie laughed too. “Me either.”
“Aye.” I sucked my teeth. “Y’all do know I’m still sitting right here, right?”
“Yeah, we know, nigga.” Kyrie grinned without missing a beat. “That’s exactly why we’re talking shit about you.”
Zeek laughed as Kyrie pointed his bottle at me.
“You know us Maddox niggas don’t give a fuck. We’ll roast yo’ ass while you’re sitting in the damn room.”
“Yeah, that’s why a lotta niggas don’t like us.” I laughed.
“True.” Zeek nodded.
