“Oh, am I?”

“Yeah.”

His voice stayed calm.

“When she finds out the truth, she ain’t gon’ be looking at me.”

My smile faltered just enough to piss me off.

“She gon’ be looking for you.”

I rolled my eyes.

“Please.”

“I’m serious.”

“You don’t know Sianni like I do.”

“Nawl.” He let out another dry laugh. “I know her a whole lot better than you think.”

I felt my jaw tighten. “Whatever.”

“I’m trying to help you, Lex.”

“I don’t need your help.”

“You do.”

His tone turned serious. “Because Kyrie ain’t letting this shit go.”

I twirled a strand of hair around my finger.

“I ain’t worried about Kyrie.”

“You should be.”

Silence settled between us.

“For real, Alexia.” He lowered his voice. “Walk away before this shit gets bigger than it already is.”

I sucked my teeth. “I’ll think about it.”

“You better do more than think.”

Before I could say another word, he hung up. I pulled the phone from my ear and stared at the screen.

“The nerve of this nigga.”

Like, he was really trying to scare me. Please. Kyrie Maddox wasn’t finding shit.

And if he thought for one second I was about to back down now, he had me all the way fucked up.

I smiled to myself and began scrolling through my phone again. I was waiting until the right time, and then I would see what else I could put out there.

The next morning came a lot sooner than I wanted it to. As much as I wanted to stay another day, responsibilities were calling my Black ass back home. So, after stealing one last kiss from Sianni, I made my way downstairs while security had the SUV pulled around.

“Baby, make sure you keep your promise,” she said, following me outside.
