“And—”

“Kyrie!”

I laughed, kissing her forehead. “Aight, aight. I’m gone.”

After one more kiss, I finally forced myself to let her go and climbed into the SUV. The door shut behind me, but Sianni stayed right where she was.

As we pulled away from the resort, I looked back through the tightened window. She stood there watching as the distance between us grew too wide for me to make her out anymore.

I settled back against the headrest and closed my eyes. Now that I knew my wife was good, it was time for me to get back home and handle everything else waiting for me.

When I finally made it back to the house, I went straight upstairs and took a shower. By the time I stepped out, dried off, and threw on some clothes, all I wanted to do was chill and enjoy the little peace I had left.

Apparently, that was too much to fucking ask.

My phone started ringing from where I’d left it on the dresser. I stared at that bitch for a second before letting out a breath and grabbing it. I really wasn’t in the mood to be bothered with anybody right now, but when I saw Marvin’s name across the screen, I slid the talk button over and put him on speaker.

“Wassup, boy?” I answered, dropping on the edge of the bed. “What’s going on?”

“Shit, man. I was calling to let you know me and Zeek took care of that.”

I went still for a second. He didn’t have to say a name for me to know exactly what the fuck he was talking about.

“Bet.” I leaned forward, resting my elbows against my knees. “What y’all do? ’Cause I don’t wanna have to face this nigga again.”

If Jamal somehow popped his ass back up in my life after this, I already knew what time I would be on. Sianni had made me promise to think before I moved, and I meant that shit when I said it. But there was only so many times a nigga could play with me before all that thinking went straight out the fucking window.

“We took care of it, bruh,” Marvin said. “You know I don’t do too much talking over the phone.”

“Yeah.” I rubbed my hand across my beard. “And I trust you, bruh.”

That was all I needed to know. Zeek wasn’t the type to call me, saying some shit was handled unless it was handled. Whatever he and Marvin had done was between them, and I damn sure wasn’t about to ask for a play-by-play over the phone.

“Yeah, but aye, man,” Marvin said a few seconds after. “What’s this shit I been seeing on the blogs about you and Sianni?”

My jaw tightened.

“Whatchu’ mean?” I asked, playing dumb.

I knew exactly what the fuck he meant. I just didn’t feel like talking about that shit and getting pissed off all over again. I was already trying to keep the promise I’d made to my wife, and every time I thought about somebody purposely putting our business out there, my hands started itching.

“They talking about Sianni, which I already know is bullshit. But they linking her to that nigga Amani too. Same nigga I caught Alexia fucking.”

My head snapped.

“The fuck? I thought that was her brother. Why the hell you ain’t tell me this before?”

“Nawl, that nigga ain’t related to her, but because I ain’t think the shit was worth talking about. It wasn’t my business.”

I sat there for a second, letting the new piece of information roll around my head. Alexia and Amani. Now that was fucking interesting.

“I guess, bruh.” I dragged my tongue across my teeth. “But yeah, that’s the bullshit that’s been going on.”

“Bet. But I wouldn’t be surprised if her ass had something to do with it.”

Neither would I, especially now. But I didn’t want to jump to conclusions.
