I had promised Kyrie I would stay with security, and even though having somebody follow me everywhere wasn’t exactly how I wanted to spend the rest of this trip, I understood why he was being so serious about it.
Too much shit had been happening for me to move around like everything was normal. I pulled up Dontae’s number and called him.
“Hey, Dontae. Me and Drayla are about to go grab something to eat.”
“Aight. Give me a minute, and I’ll meet y’all upstairs.”
“Okay.”
After hanging up, I grabbed my purse and slipped my phone inside.
“Ready?” Drayla asked.
“Yeah.”
A few minutes later, Dontae met us outside the room, and the three of us headed downstairs to find something to eat.
Once we got to the restaurant, the hostess led us to our table, and Drayla and I settled into our seats.
I was honestly glad I met her. In such a short time, she had become somebody I could talk to about damn near anything without worrying about being judged or having my business thrown back in my face later.
That meant a lot to me, especially now. We talked while looking at the menu, going back and forth about what we wanted to order, when my phone suddenly started ringing.
I glanced down at the screen, and the name Unknown popped up. A deep sigh left me as I rolled my eyes. I thought about letting the shit ring, but something told me to answer.
Sliding the button over, I brought the phone to my ear.
“Hello?”
“Hey, Sianni.”
The moment I heard her voice, my entire mood shifted.
“What the fuck do you want?”
“Damn, girl.” Alexia laughed. “That’s how you greet your best friend?”
“We are not friends.”
The words left my mouth without hesitation. But once I stopped defending her and really started paying attention, too much shit wasn’t adding up.
The slick comments and the weird energy whenever Kyrie’s name came up. How she always seemed to know shit she shouldn’t have known. And most of all, the way she had been moving lately. I wasn’t stupid. I might’ve been a little too trusting before, but that shit was dead now.
I didn’t need anybody in my circle who could smile in my face while secretly hoping everything around me fell apart.
“Aw, come on, Sianni. Don’t be like that.”
“Don’t be like what?”
“Acting like I did something to you.”
I lifted my eyebrows, and Drayla glanced up from her menu. I guess she could tell from my face exactly who I was talking to because she mouthed, “Who is that?”
I covered the bottom of the phone.
“Alexia.”
Drayla’s whole face twisted, and I damn near laughed. Turning my attention back to the call, I shook my head.
