I glanced at her.
“What you mean, what now?”
“If the pictures ain’t break them up, what we doing next?”
“That’s the problem with you. You want everything to happen overnight.”
“Because I’m tired of waiting.”
“And being impatient is how your ass gon’ fuck up everything.”
She rolled her eyes. Ignored her and looked back at my phone.
“We already planted the seed. Now we let that shit grow.”
“And if it don’t?”
My thumb stopped against the screen. For a second, I just stared at another picture of Sianni smiling beside Kyrie like she ain’t have a care in the fucking world. Then, I smiled.
“Then we plant another one.”
THREE DAYS LATER…
By the time I made it back home from the girls’ trip, I was exhausted. The trip felt long as hell, but I had fun despite all the bullshit that went down with the blogs.
I did way too much shopping, ate good, and met a lot of people while we were out. Some came up asking for pictures simply because I was Kyrie Maddox’s wife, which I was slowly getting used to. Others surprised me by just telling me I was pretty, and I couldn’t lie; that felt good.
Once Drayla dropped me off, we said our goodbyes, and I dragged myself inside. I didn’t even bother taking my bags upstairs. I dropped everything by the door and headed straight for the bedroom, ready to get out of my clothes and soak in some hot-ass water.
The house was quiet, and Kyrie was nowhere to be found. I figured his ass was at rehab. He had been taking that shit seriously, and I already knew by the time he got home, he was probably going to be worn the hell out.
After finding something comfortable to put on, I ran myself a bath and climbed in. The second the warm water hit my skin, a soft moan slipped from my lips as I sank deeper into the tub.
“Shit…”
My feet had been bothering me all day, and standing underneath a shower was the last thing I felt like doing. I rested my head against the back of the tub and closed my eyes, telling myself I was only going to sit there for a few minutes before washing up.
Apparently, my body had other plans. The next thing I knew, my eyes popped open, and I lifted my head from the tub.
“Damn.”
I had really fallen asleep. That trip must’ve worn me out more than I thought.
I sat up and washed up before I could doze off again, then climbed out and dried off. Once I slipped into my nightclothes, I headed downstairs to find something quick to eat.
After fixing my food, I carried it into the living room and got comfortable on the couch. Before I started eating, I grabbed my phone and pulled up the doctor’s office.
I stared at the screen for a second. I really didn’t want to make this damn appointment.
Not because I didn’t care about the baby, because I did. But actually making the appointment made everything feel even more real. There really was a little person growing inside of me, and sooner or later, I was going to have to stop sitting around, acting like I had all the time in the world.
I let out a breath and finished scheduling it. After I finished doing that, I blessed my food, grabbed the remote, and started flipping through channels. Ain’t shit catch my attention, but that wasn’t surprising. I had never really been a TV type of girly anyway. Give me some music, a canvas, and my paints, and I could entertain myself for hours.
I eventually settled on something I wasn’t even paying attention to and started eating.
A little while later, the front door opened and closed. And before I even heard his voice, the familiar scent of Kyrie’s cologne drifted into the room.
I smiled. His cologne was never overpowering, but somehow, I could always smell that man the second he walked into a room. And Lord knows I loved the way that shit smelled on him.
