He side-eyed me. “Go for it.”

I was a little disappointed that he hadn’t offered to wash my back, but I closed myself in the bathroom and flipped on the taps, waiting for the water to heat as I stripped down. I took my time getting clean, washing the day off. It had been a hell of a day and frankly, all I wanted to do was sleep. I dried off and wrapped the towel around my hips, looking at myself in the mirror, remembering the last time I’d done this with him outside the door.

This time, though, I finished up and grabbed a plastic laundry bag from the closet, stuffing my clothes inside, before dropping it on the floor. When I turned around, I let my breath out slowly.

Mars was sitting at the end of the bed with the TV remote aimlessly flipping through channels. He smiled at me when I walked farther into the room, giving me a quick once over from head to toe. My body felt like it was on fire everywhere his gaze landed. I debated my next move and then straightened, stiffening my resolve as I took a seat on the bed next to him. He glanced over at me, looking almost wary.

“Odd symmetry seems to be the order of the day,” he said, flicking a finger at the towel.

I smiled as our eyes met. “Yeah.”

“Something about this seems familiar,” Mars said.

I couldn’t help but chuckle because it was very true. I reached over and laid a hand on his thigh. He looked down at it before glancing up to my eyes. “Everything about it is familiar to me too.”

“Ya know, putting us in the same room was a really bad idea,” he said, frowning just a little as he stared into my eyes.

I slid my hand higher up his thigh, keeping my gaze locked with his as fire filled my veins. “You think so?”

His gaze dropped to my lips as he nodded. “Ya right, Cam, a really bad idea.” He twisted toward me, reaching up and cupping the side of my neck, sliding his hand around until he was pulling me toward him.

I leaned in, keeping my gaze on his as my heartbeat raced. “I can’t fight it anymore, Mars. It’s fucking exhausting trying to keep my hands off you.”

He cocked his head to the side. “Why bother then?”

I shook my head ever so slightly, feeling myself melt as he smiled. “I have no idea. It’s hopeless.”

“That, it is.”

Chapter Seventeen

MARS

I pulled Cam close, covering his mouth with mine as I gave up trying to resist the raging desire that had me grappling with my own sanity all day. He slid his hands slowly up my chest to my shoulders, winding his arms around my neck. I bore him down to the bed, stretching out over him as he spread his legs, making room for me. His body was lithe and slender, yet he didn’t feel fragile or weaker than me. I pushed my tongue into his mouth, and he opened hungrily as I deepened the kiss, loving the taste of him.

My head was spinning as my heart started racing. Getting more involved with Cam was probably a bloody awful idea but I couldn’t ignore the damn pull he’d had on me all day. It was like trying to fight a rare earth magnet, dragging me inexorably toward him. There was nowhere to go, except to get so close to him, that there was no daylight between us.

There was so much more to this beautiful man than he showed the world. I wanted him to open up to me and tell me everything he was feeling, and with every touch of his hands and thrust of his hips, I felt closer to him. Which made a complete bollocks of what I’d been feeling earlier about him. Fuck me.

He arched off the bed beneath me, and never mind what I’d thought earlier, I responded in kind, grinding down on him, wanting to leave no doubt in his mind that I was enjoying this as much as he was.

Cam groaned into my mouth, sucking on my tongue as he writhed beneath me, making my cock hard, and leaking profusely. He simply had that effect on me. I couldn’t ignore how much I loved his confidence. There was something about the way he’d come onto me again, making the first move, that made me believe he’d always take what he wanted. I felt quite chuffed with that little tidbit of knowledge about him. I’d fallen right into the trap he’d set, but I didn’t care. All I wanted at the moment was to be inside him, pounding away, and shooting up into him until I made him mine. He was already mine in so many ways, this was just … Fuck me. No. It was just hot sex.

I slanted my mouth over his, snogging him as though my life depended on it, needing him desperately. He moaned beneath me, dragging blunt nails across my back in long, stinging lines. I didn’t care. The twinge of pain seemed to make it so much sweeter, made me kiss him harder, thrusting my tongue against his until he whimpered. He slid his hands over my shoulders to the back of my neck and into my hair, digging his nails in since the short cut didn’t give him anything to grab. Shivers raced down my spine as my cock throbbed inside my jeans, rubbing against my underpants and the zipper jammed against it.

I broke the kiss abruptly, gulping in air and panting as he heaved below me. I sat up, never breaking my stare with his as I reached for my belt, yanking it open. He smiled gently, reaching out to help as I separated the belt, letting it hang loose as I pulled off my leather bomber jacket and tossed it aside. It hit the other bed and slid off. I pulled my Henley over my head and sat up. His rock-hard erection sprung up, tenting the towel as I squatted to pull off my shoes and socks.

I shucked my jeans and underpants before crawling back onto the bed and grabbing the towel, yanking it open, to reveal the beautiful cock I’d had in my mouth just last night. Bugger me. So much had happened in such a short time that I couldn’t believe it had been only a day ago that we were in this very same position back in Vegas. He reached for me as I came down over him, grabbing him around the waist and rolling us until he was straddling me.

He lowered his mouth and kissed me again, finding my nipples, and squeezing them until I groaned into the kiss. My heart raced, pounding in my chest as warning bells went off. If we did this, leaving him at the doorstep wasn’t going to be an option. God only knew how long we’d be forced into close proximity like this…at least until we’d taken care of our immediate problem.

I put thoughts of Josiah and his killers out of my head, turning my attention to the man above me…the man with the changeable eyes that told of a lifetime of hurt and pain. But there was something more there. There was trust and desire, lit with fire from within. I knew if I did this, eventually it would consume me but at the moment, the way my body was reacting for Cam, was all I could think of.

I shoved the thoughts of the future down deep and kissed him for all he was worth, dragging more moans and whimpers out of him. With every little sound he made, I came just that much closer to shooting my load before I could even get inside him.

He broke the kiss, dragging his lips slowly over mine before he sat up, smiling down at me. “Do you have supplies for this kind of thing?”

I chuckled. “In my go bag,” I barely got out before he’d thrown a leg over me, sliding off the bed and striding to the closet. “Find my shaving kit.”
