I felt so powerful in that moment; I had that boy at my will. We were up for hours, and even after we finished, we stayed up to talk.
“I can’t believe we just did that” I whispered, snuggling in closer to his chest as we both came down from our post-orgasm highs. I absolutely loved the way I seemed to fit perfectly under his arm.
“I can. I have wanted to do that for far too long,” he said while laying a kiss on my forehead. “I wanted to do more, but I thought your first time should be more special.”
A laugh burst out of me at his comment. I tried to look at him sheepishly and comfort him as I said, “Luke, I hate to burst your macho little bubble, but I’m not a virgin.”
He moved so fast that I had no time to react; I was pinned beneath him as he practically growled, “I’m sorry what did you just say?”
“Okay, you possessive brute, calm down.” I snickered, unable to contain my laughter.
“I will not calm down. Who? When?! Does Nolan know about this? How do I not know about this?” He spoke so fast that I think he forgot to breathe.
“Bobby Fisher. Tenth grade. Homecoming,” I stated matter of factly.
I remembered when Bobby first asked permission to take me to the dance. I thought Nolan and Luke were going to make him pee his pants as they peered down at him, arms crossed with mean-mug expressions.
I laughed at the thought, “and no, Nolan doesn’t know. I didn’t want the poor boy to die because I asked him to take my virginity.”
“We never should’ve let him ask you to Homecoming. I knew it was a bad idea. Nolan swore he was a good dude.” He sighed dramatically before rolling to his back, dragging me with him so my head could rest on his chest.
“Oh please, he is still one of the nicest kids I have ever met. I don’t even think he really wanted to sleep with me; he just didn’t want to reject me and face the wrath of the Kelly clan with a sister scorned,” I said as I rolled my eyes at his ridiculousness.
He scoffed, “Yeah, well he’s lucky we didn’t find out.”
“If you are so worried and protective, why did you wait so long to kiss me?” I challenged, resting my chin in my hands and peering up at him.
“I almost kissed you once, at camp during spin the bottle. Your bottle landed on Lenny Downing, and you actually winced when he kissed you. Later, I heard you tell the girls that his breath smelled like fish. I walked you to your cabin that night and started leaning in. All I wanted was to show you what a real kiss was like,” he admitted, staring up at the ceiling like he was deep in memories.
“I remember that night, you walked me home and lingered instead of saying goodnight. Then Nolan came running up about some epic prank that we just had to see” I smiled, recalling that night. Luke walked me home a lot since he always looked out for me, but that night felt different. I thought I was finally going to know what Luke’s lips felt like. Afterwards, I berated myself for thinking that Luke was actually going to kiss me.
Well past me, look at us now.
Self-five.
“Yeah, and I snapped out of it because I knew that he would freak out if he knew I was crushing on his baby sister.” He smirked.
Wait… he was crushing on me?!
“Hey! I’m only two minutes younger than him!” I playfully slapped his chest, “so what changed now?” I asked, momentarily letting my confidence slip.
“I just realized that we’re about to be adults and I didn’t want to risk going to college without you knowing exactly how I feel. No matter what school you choose, we’re going to work it out. If that's what you want, that is.” He said, sounding uncharacteristically insecure.
“Of course it’s what I want. It's always been you” I echoed his words from earlier.
He leaned until he hovered over me. He took my mouth in a way that I had never experienced. This kiss wasn’t hungry or rushed; it was slow and sensual. He nipped my bottom lip and I opened for him.
Luke claimed me that night in a way that would be etched into my brain forever. He might not have taken my virginity, but he guaranteed that it would never feel like that with another boy ever again.
And I wouldn’t want it to.

“So you guys shared this perfect night after years of build up and then he went and told Nolan that you were pathetic? What a douche.” Maggie scoffed.
