“Or what?” he snickered.

“I suggest you remove your hand before I cut it off your fucking body.” Cash’s booming voice shook me to my core and caused the man to stiffen in front of me.

The man smirked at me before facing Cash, who looked like he was capable of murder in cold blood.

MY WIFE

CASH

When I exited the arena, I expected to see Paige who was normally waiting to congratulate me. I knew we weren’t in the best place, but I thought our chat meant she would at least come greet me.

I headed to the area where she was taking pictures and froze at the sight of some schmuck with his filthy hand wrapped around my girl’s forearm. I saw red as I prowled toward them.

“I suggest you remove your hand before I cut it off your fucking body,” I seethed, willing myself not to grab the man by the throat and make him bleed.

The dumbass had the audacity to laugh as he looked Paige up and down.

“He’s wrapped around your little finger, huh?” He was clearly fishing for a reaction. These reporters were all the same. They were bored of these boring assignments so they fished for the drama. He turned to me and said, “Come on, bro, there are enough buckle bunnies to go around. You can share this one.”

I moved so fast the jackass didn’t have a second to react before I shoved him off Paige and pushed her behind me.

“That’s my fucking wife you’re talking about.”

Paige sucked in a breath, but she didn’t try to move.

“Oh yeah? Where’s her ring then?”

I exhaled and pulled the long gold chain out from under my shirt, holding it up for him to see.

“I wear them around my neck to keep her with me out there. They’re my good luck charm. Not that it’s any of your business.”

The man started laughing, as if I said something fucking funny, so I moved forward, gripping his shirt in my fist. I lifted him so we were nose to nose. I guarantee this fucker couldn’t take me in a fight.

“Cash!” I heard Paige shout from behind me through the buzzing in my ears. “Cash,” she screamed again, but I ignored her. “Jesse.”

That did it. I released the man’s shirt and took a step back.

“You’re fucking crazy, Leonard,” he said over his shoulder as he scurried away.

“Touch her again and you’ll see how crazy I can be,” I shouted after him.

Shaking my head, I turned back to Paige, but she was already walking away.

“Paige!” I shouted as I chased after her. She dipped into a private dressing area that was usually reserved for contestants. When we got inside, I shut the door behind us and leaned against it.

Paige started pacing, her hands on the top of her head.

“Pip, look at me,” I said calmly.

She stopped and faced me, concern etched into her face.

“What’s wrong, baby?”

“Don’t baby me,” she said, dropping her hands. “Why do you have my rings around your neck?”

I shrugged.
