Jemima's fingers fumbled with the buttons of Lionel's shirt, desperate to feel his skin against hers. She broke the kiss momentarily, her voice breathless as she whispered, "I've dreamt of this, Lionel. Dreamt of your touch."

His eyes, glazed with desire, met hers, and he murmured in a husky voice, "And I, of yours."

Without another word, their lips collided once more, their kisses growing urgent and hungry. Jemima's hands finally found their way beneath the fabric of Lionel's shirt, tracing the contours of his muscular chest, and feeling the warmth of his skin beneath her fingertips. A low growl rumbled in his throat as he savored her touch.

The ship rocked gently beneath their feet, mirroring the wild rhythm of their hearts. The world around them ceased to exist as if the ship and the sea conspired to create a realm solely for their passionate encounter. In this stolen moment, they surrendered to the primal longing smoldering within them, the flames of desire licking at their very souls.

As their mouths continued their dance, their bodies melded together, fitting perfectly in a fervent embrace. Jemima felt a surge of desire course through her, a yearning that had been awakened in the depths of her being. She was consumed by the intoxicating taste of him, by the electric current that flowed between them.

They broke apart briefly, their labored breaths mingling in the night air. Lionel's eyes met Jemima's, and at that moment, they shared an unspoken understanding. They had ventured into dangerous territory, but the allure of their connection was too potent to resist.

With renewed determination, Jemima pulled Lionel towards her, her lips crashing against his once more. Their bodies pressed together in an insatiable frenzy, lost in a whirlwind of passion and desire. The night belonged to them, and for now, they were the only two souls adrift in a sea of endless possibilities.

That was, until Jemima began to feel an unpleasant rumbling in her stomach. Much as she tried to ignore it, she knew what was coming. Quickly, she broke apart from Lionel’s embrace and ran to the edge of the ship on unsteady legs, and retched over the side.

The romance of the evening was quickly gone as she turned around and slumped against the ship’s edge.

“I don’t feel very well,” she mumbled.

“You don’t look it,” he replied dryly.

“Thank you, Lionel. Ladies do love hearing that.”

“Ladies also don’t drink an ungodly amount and dance on tabletops.”

She heaved a deep sigh and let out a little belch at the end of it.

“You’re right. I was foolish.”

"Easy there, Jemima," Lionel's voice resonated, his tone laced with tenderness and a touch of mischief. "I must admit, I never expected my kisses to have such an effect on you."

Jemima's cheeks burned with humiliation as she murmured, "I'm sorry, Lionel. I didn't mean for this to happen."

Lionel chuckled softly, his deep laughter vibrating through her body.

“I assure you the sea has seen far more turbulent moments than this."

“Take me back to my cabin,” she pleaded gently.

Lionel did as asked, scooping her in his arms as if she were a new bride. She rested her head against his chest and closed her eyes, feeling safe in his embrace and relishing the breeze on her cheek.

“You smell terrible,” he said, interrupting her momentary reverie as they rounded the corner to the corridor of cabins.

“’S not my fault,” she said groggily through a yawn.

“I know. But I wish you’d be more careful in the future.”

She was glad her face was against his shoulder, as she did not want to look at him. Her cheeks burned with shame. Part of her wanted to enjoy that moment so badly, but then part of her knew it must look desperate, drinking and dancing with men she hardly knew.

Lionel opened the door to her cabin and gently deposited her on the small bed.

“I’m so tired,” she declared, yawning and falling backward. Thankfully her head hit the pillow instead of the headboard.

“I can imagine. And I expect you’ll feel ill in the morning, so it’s important that you rest.”

“I’m not sure I can… what are you doing?!” she cried, feeling something brush against her ankles.

“You’re still wearing your shoes. I can’t imagine that’s comfortable to sleep in,” he said as if it were the simplest thing in the world.
