“You know how many people want your ass dead, Diego? Ain’t nobody gon’ retaliate or miss you,” Bino said. He looked over at Burner, waiting on his next move. Once Burner gave him a head nod, Bino wasted no time blowing Diego’s brains out, causing Lunden to flinch. He let his body drop to the floor.

“Now, take me to your safe, nigga. I know you got one,” Burner said to Lunden.

“You gon’ kill me, nigga? After everything I did for you and that nigga, Dexz? I'm that nigga brother, not you. Both you niggas gon’ regret ever killing me!” Lunden didn’t want to die. He felt like Dexz was betraying him by putting a hit on him, not realizing he had put a hit out on Dexz first.

“Nigga, fuck all that. I’ll find the safe myself.” Burner let off his whole clip into Lunden, sending his last bullet through his dome.

After Burner and Bino cleaned the house of anything valuable, Burner was ready to deliver on his promise. He sent Bino to the car for the cooler he had in it, and they both dragged Lunden and Diego’s bodies to Lunden’s backyard. Burner found a shed and went for the chainsaw. With five cuts through each of their necks, their heads disconnected. Bino couldn't believe the horror he was seeing. He thought they came to shoot, rob, and go, but Burner was on some other shit. Bino started feeling queasy but knew he couldn't leave his DNA at the scene, so he swallowed it.

After Burner stuffed the heads into the cooler, Bino found every camera in the house and took them. Burner made sure he took all of Lunden’s electronics because he knew that’s where he probably kept the tapes.

They drove back to Harlem in silence, but Burner had some shit to show Dexz after he went home to get all the blood off him. They could now move on without the poisonous people that were messing up life for them...

Chapter 33

CHAINING DAY

Dexz woke up the next morning with a stiff body. He felt like he couldn’t feel his legs, and his neck was sore. He staggered out of bed with the help of his nurse so he could meet Burner outside. It was eleven, so he had to get up anyway. He slid on his black Nike sweats, and his nurse helped him put on his sweater. He put on his Gucci slides and then walked outside on his crutches. Burner was standing in front of his trunk with a huge smile on his face. Dexz shot him a faint smile.

“What’s up, my nigga? I see you gettin’ around on them crutches, so you don’t have to be in that wheelchair,” Burner said when Dexz finally approached him.

“Yeah, but this shit hard. I gotta get around though. Shit don’t stop because I’m down; I still need to make moves.”

“Yeah, I feel you, but that bitch Bambi was right. I shot her some bread, and she told me where that nigga Lunden was at. I found that nigga with the bitch nigga that killed your parents. I got that nigga too.”

Dexz squinted his eyes. “The nigga that killed my parents?”

“Yeah, the Diego nigga that be out of eyes’ reach. The nigga Lunden was really working with dude and sent the hit on you. That bitch Bambi told me a lot of shit, but we can talk about that shit at a later date.”

Dexz sighed. He couldn’t believe the way Lunden betrayed him. He felt like his animosity was deeper than Pretti leaving him. His male best friend was jealous, greedy, and a hater, so he didn’t respect that and was glad he was gone right with the man that killed his parents.

“Where you find them niggas at anyway?”

“In Connecticut in a big ass mansion, but the locks were cheap as fuck. I opened that shit with a card. We aired that bitch out though. Oh, and I got something for you too.” Burner popped his trunk and opened the cooler. Dexz nearly jumped out of his skin when he saw the two heads turned blue with their eyes wide open while sitting on ice.

“Yo, what the fuck, nigga?” Dexz exclaimed, startled at what he was looking at.

Burner laughed. “I told you I was gon’ bring you that nigga’s head. Now you got two trophies.”

“Naaahhh, you could have brought a nigga they chain or something. Go bury them shits, bro, and good lookin’. Fuck that nigga Lunden and Diego. I’m glad this shit is over.” He let out a sigh of relief. Lunden was his boy once upon a time, but he didn’t play when it came to disloyalty, so his death was warranted.

“Me too. I’ma go bury these shits, and then I’ma head back home. My kids driving my baby momma crazy. But I’ma be out later with Storm. She missing a nigga too.”

“She gon’ have yo’ tenth baby.” Dexz chuckled.

“I told her that. She think that birth control gon’ save her.”

They dapped each other up, and Dexz went into the house.

After that day, he was officially out of the dope game. Burner stayed in, still running New York and Cali like he had been for years. However, they opened up their car lot business, and it had Dexz bringing in just about the same amount he made when he was slanging dope.

Chapter 34

HAPPILY: SIX MONTHS LATER…

“Can you say, daddy?” Pretti asked Ethan as he sat in her play area at her new shop in New Jersey, rolling a ball back and forth with her stepson.

After they took Ethan for his hearing aids a month prior, he had been the happiest kid, being able to hear. However, they couldn’t get him to say a word. He was in therapy, in preschool, and they were doing what they could for him at home, but he hadn’t progressed yet. But seeing him smile made them know he was at least happy and comfortable in his new life. With his condition, he wasn’t even supposed to be smiling, and here he was, spilling his emotions to Pretti.
