The tips of our noses kissed and I smiled against his lips.

“You told me that it is traditional for your people to hunt and steal your brides.”

His eyes flew open, searching mine, questioning and curious. “Yessss…” It was a hiss of desire and pain.

I leaned close and licked a path over his cheek before reaching his ear.

“So hunt me.”

The words sent the primal thrill of the hunt through my blood. Something far more exciting than the adrenaline rush of a battle. Far tastier than lust for blood. This was so much more than that, for I would hunt my wife.

The way I should have from the beginning.

Lucero was giving me an opportunity to correct the mistake of our original mating ritual.

She was accepting me.

And there was no thrill greater than that.

A smile spread wide upon my lips. My teeth dug into my skin, drawing a line of blood down my chin. I was sure I appeared little more than a hungry beast to her, because that was what I was; a beast driven by need, the urge to hunt her, find her, mate her.

“You wish to be hunted?” My hand found the back of her neck, slipping into the tangles of her curls. I gripped her tightly, holding her in place the same way she held me.

My non-broken horn was tight in her grip, and she may as well have reached down and touched my cock. The softness of her hand nearly brought me to release, but I held strong enough for her answer.

“Yesss.” The word was little more than a moan against her lips.

I leaned close, the two of us tethering the other in grips that refused to let go.

“Then hunt you I shall.”

I did not give her a moment to speak. Already she was in my arms, held tightly against me. The next moment, I shot from our den and out into the open night. My wings had long since healed from the demon attack I had suffered weeks ago. They were stronger than ever and my wife was a light weight in my arms as I soared through the clouds in a rush until I found a cluster of forestation and dropped right in the middle of.

Lucero yelped when we touched the ground and stumbled when I set her on her feet. She whirled to stare at me. The moonlight of the Underworld reflected off her eyes, showing the desire that lived in the depths of her soul.

Hunger like none I had ever experienced gripped me.

I wanted her. Desperately. Part of me wished to cast aside tradition and take her where she stood, right there on the forest floor.

But I needed the hunt. We needed the hunt.

And so we would have it.

“Run away, feral creature.” My voice was a dark whisper in the wind, causing Lucero to stumble back a step. I could hear the beating of her heart. I could hear her fear, as prominent as I could scent her arousal. “Run away because I am a monster that means to find you.” I took a step forward just as she took one back. “I am going to steal you.” I leaned forward, inhaling her arousal and keeping it trapped in my nostrils. She was my addiction, and I would find her anywhere she tried to hide. “And when I catch you…” My wings flared. “I am going to fuck you.”

Lucero turned and ran. Faster and faster, her arms and legs moved wildly as she made her attempt to flee from me.

I smiled as I watched her go, her scent already teasing me through the trees.

It was only a second later that I bolted into the sky with a deep, echoing laughter left in my wake.

The darkness aided her, but it did not matter.

I would find her.

Let the hunt begin.

I couldn’t see a thing. The night enveloped me in a blanket, making it impossible to see anything in front of me. Still, I ran, turning and twisting and running again, though the only sound that filled my ears was the harsh breaths in my chest and my boots hitting the ground with each push forward.
