After the diving meet on Friday, we take Seb’s Jeep and Alex’s SUV to Foly Beach. We all packed our overnight bags last night and took them to school today.
It’s raining on the drive, but it can’t dampen my spirits. Sun, my guys, and the ocean are waiting for me. I’m riding with Alex and Bay today. “Will Penny visit this weekend, Bay?”
“No. Her family is hosting a barbecue this weekend.”
“Oh. Will you be leaving us early?”
“No, I’ll be here.” He turns to give me a smile from the passenger seat. Huh. Would’ve thought he’d be with her for that. Oh well. Not my business. I’m happy he’ll be with us, and the long weekend is kind of a tradition with the guys.
An hour later, Alex pulls into the driveway of the beach house. Smiling to myself, I hop out of the back seat with my bags. Rushing up the stairs to the overhang, I wait for everyone else.
I don’t know why I’m so exuberant today. Having very little to complain about is part of it. Life is good. Since we received our college acceptance letters, things seem easy, just floating along. The stress of high school is over, and the pressure of college is far away. We’re in this bubble that I hope lasts a while. If Nick were here, it would be perfect.
Alex smiles at me, unlocking the door as we rush in out of the rain, and I go straight to my room. Unpacking my bags, I notice a fresh bouquet of iceberg roses on the side table. Alex is so thoughtful, although I still don’t know where he gets the garden fresh roses for me.
I hit send on a text telling Dad I’m in for the night as Seb comes bounding into my room, immediately wrapping me in a hug from behind. “What’cha wanna do tonight, Sunshine?”
“Not sure.” Twirling in his arms, I reach up to plant a kiss on his lips. “Maybe we can rent a new movie?”
“We can do that.” He’s talking, but his eyes haven’t left my lips.
Smiling, I kiss him again. “Come on, I’m starving.” Grabbing his hand, I lead him downstairs to the kitchen, where E has his head stuck in the fridge. “What are we eating, E?”
Straightening, he holds out a pan of tacos covered in plastic wrap. “I’ll heat these in the oven. There’s also guacamole.”
“Yum.” Sliding behind him, I grab the guacamole, setting it on the island before rummaging in the pantry for chips. I take a seat, E sliding a bowl across the counter to me. Dumping the bag of crispy chips into the bowl, I grab one and dip it into the guac. Alex and Bay soon join us to snack while we wait for dinner to warm up. “Alex, the iceberg roses are gorgeous. Thank you.”
“You are most welcome, Summer.” His smile is brilliant as he winks at me. I’m still not used to this flirty, easygoing guy.
“Sunshine wants to rent a movie,” Seb announces between bites.
“I believe we can purchase the new action movie that is out this weekend, if everyone is agreeable?” Alex says.
The guys are happy with the choice. After a scrumptious taco dinner, E and I make flavored popcorn, then we settle in front of the television and Alex finds the movie for us. After turning off the lights and closing the patio curtains, he presses play.
When the movie ends, we separate to get ready for bed. Finishing my nightly routine in the bathroom, I’m texting Jake when I run into a wall in the hallway. “Oof.”
“It helps to look where you are going.”
Looking up, I see Alex in his pajamas. “Sorry, texting Jake.” I wave my phone around. Alex has his usual silky two piece pjs on. Tonight they’re red.
“I wanted to tell you I have a phone call in the morning with my father and Mr. Macleod. It should only last an hour.”
“Is everything okay?” Saturday morning isn’t usual business hours.
“Fine,” he smiles. “They are golfing together after our phone call. It is regarding my inheritance, so I will be in the office if you need me.”
“Oh, okay. Thanks for letting me know. Night.” Alex nods, turning to return to his room.
I go back to reading my texts from Jake. Colette and Joseph showed up today unannounced and visited for several hours at the condo. What the hell? It seems they’re going to be a regular occurrence in his life from now on.
Both Seb and E are already in my bed with only the side lamp to illuminate the room.
Plugging my phone in, I crawl up between my guys. Seb immediately grabs my chin to move my lips towards him. He's playful tonight, sipping and nipping at me until my body relaxes. When he pulls back with a smile, E gently cups my cheek for his turn. "Hi beautiful," he smiles.
"Hey." I lean up, wanting to feel his plump lips on mine. We kiss, and I lose all sense of time and place. When we break apart, I smile up at my golden god.
"Can I make love to you tonight?" he asks.
