She looked to me. “It’s Stanford, love.”
“My apologies, Mrs. Stanford. I know you don’t know me, but I could really use a ride back to school.”
She was about to speak before Khalil cut her off.
“She’s not taking you. I am,” he said, rubbing his daughter’s back to soothe her cries.
“You ain’t taking her nowhere, Khalil! You got your nerve, bringing this mutt in here and fucking her on the bed you fuck me on.”
“Nia! You have completely lost your damn mind. Get your disrespectful ass out of here. You’re worried about the wrong thing when you should be concerned about your baby!”
I need to get out of here.
Khalil handed the baby to his mom and moved Nia out of my way before taking my hand and leading me away. I saw her hand coming toward me, but Khalil was quick and pushed her away from me.
“Keep it up, and I’m going to forget you’re a woman,” he warned her.
“You protecting this bitch? You love her or something? How long this shit been going on behind my back!” she screamed at him before looking at me. “Don’t come back around here, slut!” The crazy look in her eyes let me know she didn’t have it all.
I left my mace on my nightstand in my room, so I would have to use basic combat if this ho touched me. I wasn’t about to fight over dick I hadn’t been able to sample, but if she jumped at me one more time, I would be forced to lay her ass out.
In my quest to make the dream I had about Khalil a reality, I wasn’t thinking about the fact that he, indeed, had a baby mother.
That I was sure he was still fucking, according to her.
I knew it had to be true because she had access to his home, so I was sure he had given her a key. If she knew her baby daddy was eating me like a holiday meal, I’d hate to know what she would do if she ever found out.
This is fucking crazy.
“What is going on!” I could hear Nana yell from downstairs.
“Nia, if I have to put this baby down, it ain’t gon’ be shit nice!” Mrs. Stanford yelled.
I was able to get away from Khalil before he could touch me again and hurried down the stairs.
“Piper!” I heard him yell after me, but I was out of the door before he could even say my name a second time.
I’m so fucking stupid! Why didn’t I force him to take me back to my dorm last night? I scolded myself as I hurriedly walked up the block.
Because you wanted that man. That’s why, I admitted the moment he urged me into his car, and I felt the bulge in his joggers. I had been thinking about him taking me down. I honestly thought he wouldn’t touch me at all, give me those flirty eyes, or give me the time of day. But when I heard him groan behind me as I walked up the stairs, that was all the confirmation I needed to lay in his bed when he returned from his shower.
Worst mistake.
My decision had me about to square up with his child’s mother because I didn’t even factor in that they were still together. I hated myself for not giving him more pushback and letting my guard down too soon.
As I reached the end of the gate, I realized I didn’t know the address to put in for an Uber. There wasn’t a street sign, and I bypassed the marker where the name of the community was. Luckily, I saw a woman walking her dog and stopped her.
“Good morning,” I greeted.
She smiled at me. “Good morning.”
Good. She’s not a mean person.
“Can you tell me what street I’m on or the name of the community?”
“You’re on Westhaven Drive, and the community’s name is Snowfall Hills.”
“Thank you so much.”
