She stares at me for a second before she starts laughing. The sound immediately pisses me off. Her laughter cuts off as she lifts the bottle to her mouth and takes a long drink, wiping her mouth with the back of her hand. Her eyes drop to the mask still clenched in my fist.
“Oh, I see what’s going on.” She points at me, her words slurring slightly. “You don’t want someone else to find me before you do. That it?”
My jaw tightens. “Put the fucking bottle down.”
“Why do you think you get to decide that?” Eyebrow lifted to taunt me, she takes another drink.
Nostrils flaring, I step closer, crowding her. “I’m not playing games with you right now. I’m fucking serious.”
She tilts her head back, looking up at me through her lashes, a bitter smile twisting her lips. “You’re always serious. That’s your whole personality.”
I yank the bottle from her hand and toss it across the room. She flinches as it smashes against the wall. Gripping her chin, I force her to look at me.
“You’re drunk and high.”
She laughs again. “Wow. Good job, detective.”
I let go of her jaw, my hand shaking with anger. “You’re unbelievable.”
“I’m unbelievable? Jesus, do you even hear yourself? You disappear for weeks. Ignore my texts. My calls. Then show up out of nowhere and act like you have the right to tell me what to do.”
Outside, distant cheers erupt as the Hunt starts, but I barely hear them. My focus is locked on her.
She’s a fucking mess.
And I hate how relieved I was when I saw her.
“You look like shit.”
“Well, thank god, you’re here to let me know.” She rolls her eyes and moves toward the door, but I step in front of her, blocking her way. “Move. Now. You don’t get to drag me into rooms and bark orders at me anymore.”
I lean down, getting in her face. “I told you to stop this shit.”
“And I told you to fuck off.”
My temper snaps.
I snatch her waist, lifting her off her feet before tossing her onto the bed. She lands with a soft thud, her eyes wide, breathing fast. I rip my belt off in one smooth motion, wrapping it around my fist before I grab her wrists and pin them above her head. She struggles immediately, but I hold her down easily.
“Let me go, you fucking psycho—”
Tightening the belt around her wrists, I secure it to the headboard. She thrashes beneath me, her legs kicking, but I press my body over hers.
“You’re not leaving this room until you sober the fuck up.”
“Fuck you! Let me go!” She twists her wrists in the belt, her hazel eyes searing into mine. “You think you can just keep doing this to me? You think you own me?”
“I don’t have time for your fucking tantrum.”
She lets out a bitter laugh. “No, of course not. Because you’re too busy playing hero. You fucking hypocrite. You don’t get to do this. You don’t get to act like you care.”
“I don’t care.”
“Liar. You fucking wish you didn’t. You wish you didn’t want me. That’s why you hate me so much. Because you’re just as fucked up as I am.”
She spits in my face and bucks wildly beneath me, trying to throw me off. I press her harder into the mattress, my body solid and heavy over hers. My cock is already rock hard from the fight, throbbing against her.
I snarl and push her legs apart with my knee, adjusting her thighs around my hips. She freezes beneath me, her breath hitching as I grind my cock against her. Her words shouldn’t get to me, but I’m so fucking angry, all I can think about is shutting her up.
