“These are your orgasms, no one else’s.”
He stroked her harder but kept the same agonizing pace. “Now, what’s my fucking name?” His fingers increased the pressure on her neck, and her world felt hazy and magnificent. There was a ball of energy hurtling toward her, and she spread her arms wide to receive it. It crashed into her, and she splintered into a thousand pieces.
Gasping, she came on a gush of tears and a tsunami between her thighs. “Damon!”
CHAPTER THIRTEEN
The Buddy System
The twenty-four-hour sex fast began the moment Damon left Seraph’s apartment. He waited until after she had awakened from another blackout orgasm and then saw himself out. She dragged herself into the shower to wash away the sweat and come that covered her body and then set a timer on her phone.
The next day, she made sure to stay out of her office while at work. Despite how late Damon had stayed at her house, she couldn’t bank on him leaving her alone during the day and prevented another office session by inviting her department to work together in the conference room. Everyone had different projects, but the promise of a catered lunch and the opportunity to stretch their limbs were too tempting to pass on. It turned out to be a beneficial arrangement for all, with several people able to bounce ideas off of each other and brainstorm pitches. The culture in the sales department at NexTech differed from other tech companies in that it wasn’t competitive in a toxic way. There was no value in undercutting each other or stealing clients or ideas. It was a family environment that fostered loyalty and passion for the job.
What had begun as a ruse to keep Seraph from being cornered by Damon turned into something that brought her real joy. She had almost forgotten about Damon completely until the urge to pee hit her after stuffing herself with food from Capital Grill. Halfway to the restroom, she realized that she was the only one in the hallway and her steps began to slow. Sweeping her eyes on either side of her, praying that Damon didn’t pop up and pull her into one of the darkened offices, she was on high alert until she reached the multi-stall lavatory. The door swung shut behind her, and the sound of two women conversing made her sigh with relief.
She hurriedly emptied her bladder as she heard toilets flush and rushed to wash her hands so she could walk out with the women that she recognized from the advertising department, which shared a floor with sales. As she was rinsing the suds from her hands, she felt a stirring in her belly and the fine hairs on the back of her neck lifted.
He’s out there.
“Hey. You okay, sis?”
Seraph dragged her blank gaze up from the sink to collide with that of one of the two women. One of her sculpted brows was hiked in the air, and even though a playful smirk was on her lips, her brown eyes were filled with undeniable concern.
Praying she hadn’t been muttering aloud, Seraph asked, “Huh?”
The woman stepped closer, stopping just out of arms reach. “I asked if you were okay. You’re staring into that drain as if you’re trying to figure out how to jump into it.” She chuckled, and Seraph swallowed hard, the reality that she would do just that if she could made her throat as dry as the desert in June.
“I—there’s a man out there,” she stuttered as she tried to figure out how to explain her dilemma, “a—and I—”
The woman’s eyes narrowed, and she held up a hand.
“Say no more. You need help getting away from him?”
Seraph nodded so quickly that her teeth clacked against each other.
“We gotchu, don’t we, YoYo?” She turned to the other woman who propped a fist on her hip and said, “We sure do. You’re in sales, right?”
The first woman turned back to Seraph just as she was nodding a second time.
“I thought you looked familiar. What’s your name?”
“Seraph.”
“That’s pretty.” Touching her chest with the tips of her fingers, she said, “I’m Marissa,” then she turned and hooked a thumb at the second woman, “and that’s Yolanda. We’re from ads. Come on, let’s go.” Moving closer to Seraph, Marissa yanked a few paper towels from the dispenser and held them out. Once Seraph dried her hands and tossed the crumpled ball into the hole between the two sinks Marissa looped an arm through hers and tugged her toward the door.
“Go first, YoYo, and hold the door. We have somewhere to be right now.” She started laughing as YoYo pushed the door open, and Seraph was so caught off-guard that she began to laugh too, but it was short-lived when she noticed Damon leaning against the wall opposite the restroom.
One foot was bent behind him, balancing on the wall, with his arms crossed over his chest, and his eyes trained on her. As soon as they made eye contact, her pussy started weeping and her nipples beaded as if a strong breeze had washed over them. Her steps slowed and she felt her chest begin to constrict.
Good lord, why did she think she could make it twenty-four hours? Just the sight of him had her ready to spread her legs in the middle of the hallway.
“You’ve been hiding from me,” was all he said, face somber as if he had simply asked for the time. It might as well have been a siren’s call, the way the low timbre of his voice had a physical effect on her, unlike anything she’d ever experienced before this thing began between them—before he came to her in the middle of the night all those weeks ago.
“I—”
Seraph was once again that marionette, drifting toward him unconsciously, magnetized to the power between his thighs—the magic that he created between her thighs. However, before she could even take a step in his direction she felt herself being yanked back into consciousness.
Marissa blinked at her in confusion before narrowing her eyes and tightening the connection of their looped arms.
