Kaleb has several vehicles in front of Sinner’s Ink. He has us climb in and we quickly take off to where the building is located. We have to park a distance away from the building so Wilson doesn’t hear the cars approach.

“Stay with me the entire time,” Storm says softly.

“Why? I'm getting to Roxy as soon as possible. I couldn’t care less about Wilson.”

“No. You’re going to act based on emotion. You need to stay with me. I’ll make sure you can get to her as soon as possible without risking either one of your lives. Got it?”

Storm pulls me to a stop and stares at me. He’s not going to back down. I can tell just by the look in his eyes.

I let out a loud sigh and glance away from him, towards the building. I want to say screw you and rush in there, but I’ll never forgive myself if something happens to Roxy and it’s my fault.

“Fine. I just need her to be safe in my arms.”

“I’ll make sure you get that. Let’s go.”

Chapter 27

Roxy

I whimper as Wilson hits me again. There’s a cut above my brow and blood is dripping down my face from it.

After I woke up, Wilson tied me to a steel chair in the center of the room. It’s bolted to the ground, making sure it can’t be moved or tipped over.

I knew the building was filthy, but I didn’t realize what it was used for until I was tied up. There are red stains on the concrete floor and I have no doubt it’s from blood. This is the building they must use to torture people and then kill them.

I swallow hard, trying to stay with it. I'm not sure how many times he’s hit me, but I'm finding it hard to keep my eyes open. Each blow takes me closer and closer to slipping into the darkness.

I can’t do that. I need to stay awake until Chopper gets here. I need to know I'm safe before I can let go again.

“Stay awake!” He growls, sending another kick to my ribs.

I shriek in pain, but all he does is smile. He’s a worthless man who just wants to prove he has power over me. It’s pathetic. He was cowering from me when I had a baseball bat in my hands, yet now he’s acting like he’s the one in control.

If it weren’t for him blindsiding me and knocking me out, I have no doubt I would’ve been able to get away from him at the bar. I would’ve grabbed my bat and kept swinging it at him until he couldn’t move. Even now, I would’ve fought a little harder if my head wasn’t pounding and I wasn’t tied to a chair.

“He’s going to kill you,” I hiss, spitting out a mouthful of blood at him.

“He doesn’t know where you are.” Wilson lets out a laugh that I have no doubt I’ll hear in my nightmares for years to come… if I even get out of this place alive. “He can’t save you. No one can.”

“Then what do you want from me! Are you just trying to prove you can beat up a girl? Congrats, you did it. Now, let me go!”

“I'm never letting you out of here. This is where you’ll die. I hope you like the decor.” He cackles again, making my stomach turn.

What if Chopper can’t find me? After all, he’d have no reason to suspect Wilson is behind all of this. We never saw him before that night at the bar, and we haven’t seen him since then.

No. Chopper will find me. He’s always protected me and I have no doubt he’ll save me from this situation too. I just need to stay alive long enough to give him a chance.

I open my mouth to beg for Wilson to take it easy on me. Make him think he’s winning and breaking me.

But I never get the chance. Both of the doors to the building fly open and chaos ensues.

Chapter 28

Chopper

“Porter, I want you, Storm, and Chopper to take the lead on the double doors over there. Myself, Whiskey, Gunner, and River will storm through these double doors. Based upon where the voices are coming from, I have a feeling he has her tied to the chair in the middle of the room. There’s nowhere for him to hide.”

“What if he has a weapon?” Storm speaks up.
