“I can explain!” He holds his hands up to cover his face and I almost laugh. How does he think that’s going to save him?

“Oh, ok. Go on. We’re happy to listen to your explanation.” I motion for him to keep going. I’d love nothing more than to watch this guy try to come up with an excuse about why he thought that was acceptable to post something like this on social media, especially as a public post. To doctor up a photo to look like Roxy was doing things she wasn’t.

“I kept ask-asking her out,” he stumbles over his words. If I wasn’t livid about what he did, I’d be finding this comical. “She wouldn’t g-go out with m-me.”

“Mhm. So you decided to post a fake photo making it seem like she was doing things with you that she’d never do?” I shake my head, glancing over my shoulder at Storm. “What do you think, Storm? Is that an acceptable reason to try to ruin Roxy’s reputation?”

“You know…” Storm strokes his beard like he’s really thinking about it. “I actually don’t think there’s any reason to do that to a woman.”

“Especially when her dad is the president of the Savage Wolves,” Scar adds.

“Do you really think it’s smart to mess with Savage royalty?” Blaze shudders like he’s actually afraid.

“Porter Reeves is the last person in the world I’d want to mess with,” Izzy winces.

“B-but I didn’t m-mess with him!” Darren’s eyes are filled with tears and he looks like he’s about to bolt, but that’s not happening. Not until I teach him a lesson.

Chapter 6

Roxy

Dixie and Oakley fell asleep an hour ago. I’ve been wide awake. I’ve been waiting for Chopper to come home. I need to know what happened.

I came out to the living room a few minutes ago and asked the prospects when he’ll be back, but they said they didn’t know.

Five minutes later, a loud rumble fills the air and I leap from the couch to run outside. The prospects yell at me to stay in the house, but I ignore them. Storm and Chopper pull their bikes into the spots in front of my home and the other three guys turn towards their homes.

I run over to Chopper’s side and wait for him to tug his helmet off. My gaze lands on his split lip and swollen eye and I gasp.

“Chopper,” I whisper, reaching for his face.

“I'm fine, babe.” He captures my hand in his and brings it to his lips, pressing a soft kiss to my knuckles. “I handled Darren and the five friends who showed up right after we got there. They won't be a problem for you anymore.”

When he releases my hand, he climbs off his bike and winces. He has to be hurting a lot more than he’s letting on. I spin around to glare at Storm and plant my hands on my hips.

“Why didn’t you help him! Did you just let him take on six guys at once by himself?”

“Yes,” Storm answers calmly.

“You piece of crap!” I shriek as I launch myself towards him, only I never make contact because Chopper’s holding me around the waist, preventing me from tearing Storm’s face off.

“He told us he didn’t want help. Do you really think I’d stand around and let that happen if he hadn’t asked for that? C’mon, Roxy.” He rolls his eyes. “It’s not like I'm afraid of chipping a nail.”

“I don’t care what he told you! You should’ve helped him!” I keep trying to reach for him, but Chopper’s too strong.

“Calm down, baby. I’ll be fine,” he murmurs in my ear and I feel my entire body relax. Chopper’s the only person with the power to calm me down with a few whispered words. His deep voice always has that sort of effect on me. “C’mon, let’s go inside and we can talk. Ok?”

I nod my head and he slowly lowers me to my feet. He runs his hand down the length of my arm until he intertwines my fingers with his. Squeezing my hand, he nods towards the house. I glare at Storm one last time before following Chopper inside.

The prospect standing in the doorway nods his head at Chopper. The others take one look at him as we walk in the door and they launch to their feet. They’re about to ask Chopper what happened, but he points towards the door. Without a word they follow his silent instructions and leave, shutting the door softly behind them.

“What can I do to help you?” I lower to my knees in front of Chopper as he sits on the couch.

“Nothing. I’m seriously fine. Just sit with me.” He pats the spot next to him and I happily move there. He drapes his arm around my shoulders and leans his head back against the couch. His eyes slide shut and I know I'm going to stay with him for the rest of the night.

He went after someone for hurting me. He didn’t stop until he knew they wouldn’t be an issue again. As always, he went above and beyond for me.

Chopper’s right. I want to be with a man who will always have my back. One who will fight for me and always be there when I fall apart like I did today.
