Her eyes search mine.
“We’ll figure everything out together.”
Emotion flickers across her face before she presses another soft kiss to my lips.
Then, suddenly, her stomach growls loudly between us.
I smirk. “Looks like the future Blood Moon heir is clearly demanding pancakes,” she giggles.
“Then I’d better get working. You need to take it easy, especially after last night,” I say as I lift her onto the counter.
“But I can help,” she protests.
“Not today.”
Musings
Jayce
It’s a while later as we finish breakfast, seated on a sunbed out on the deck. Sienna’s sitting in my lap, both of us holding our hot drinks as we look out at the ocean. It’s peaceful, and I don’t genuinely remember the last time life felt so peaceful.
I wrap my arm around her tighter, taking a gulp of my mocha. “The weather’s good,” I say.
“It is, and so relaxing,” Sienna murmurs as she tilts her head up to look at me. I lean down, kissing her softly on the lips.
“Yeah, until we return to the chaos of life.” I frown slightly. “We should try to do this from time to time, to get a little rest and a break from everything.”
“We should. Things get so heavy sometimes, and it’s easy to forget to take a step back,” she agrees. “Besides, once we have this child, I’d like us to be there for them, even though I know that as the Deimos King as well as being Alpha, you will have a lot of responsibilities.”
“I’ll make sure I make time for you both; you will both always be my top priority.” It sounds surreal talking about a baby, and to think in under six months he’ll be here with us – and yeah, I think it’ll be a boy.
“Thanks, I didn’t for a moment doubt that. Our responsibilities will always remain, but we’ll be fine.” She tilts her head back, and I turn her in my arms so she’s sitting across my lap. “So, when are you planning on becoming Alpha?” she asks, snuggling into me and taking a sip from her mug.
“I told Dad once we wrap up whatever’s going on with that dome. Then, we’ll both take our position as Alpha and Luna of the Blood Moon Pack together.” I frown slightly, wondering if she ever planned to return to the Academy. “What about the Academy? You were supposed to go back, weren’t you?”
She smiles. “I was, but I don’t think I will, not with a baby and with you.”
“If you wanted to, I think you should. We could work something out with living arrangements. The Blood Moon has training sessions, but as a witch, the Academy can teach you a lot more.”
She hesitates. “Wouldn’t that be asking for a lot? As a Luna, I’d also have to be there for the pack. I don’t think it feels right.”
“The pack would be happy to wait for their Luna to finish her education. Trust me,” I reply. “I personally do think you should consider it.”
She looks towards the ocean, a small frown creasing her brow as she muses over what I just said. “I think the only thing we needed to learn about was being the Trinity Witches: Heaven, Allie and me. We’ve been getting help, but it’s quite a mystery to even the oldest of witches in the covens. There’s a purpose for us; we all agree on that.”
“Then that’s your reason; if you’re at the Academy, the three of you can work together to figure it out.”
She smiles. “I’m not sure if I should appreciate the fact you’re so understanding or be unhappy that you aren’t trying to keep me captive and going all possessive alpha male on me,” she teases.
I smirk. “As much as doing that sounds enticing, I know the three of you are close, and I would never try to rob you of that. I came to accept early on that you three are a package deal at this point.”
She laughs. “We are inseparable… Jayce?”
“Hmm?”
“Theo, have you heard anything from him? I know Heaven’s not saying anything, but she does miss him.”
I sigh, staring out at the brilliant blue ocean. “We all do. I don’t know what he’s doing or where he is… Neither does Leo.”
