“Text me anytime,” I murmur.

“Even at three in the morning?”

I smirk. “Yes.”

She pulls the sheet over her body, looking so damn beautiful.

“I might have to test that theory. Oh, pretty please quietly use the back door and lock it on your way out,” she says.

“Can I kiss you before I go?” I ask.

Blaire instinctively licks her lips. “Yes. When we’re alone, I’m yours.”

“You sure about that?” I lean down and cradle her jaw in one hand, and I kiss her without hurrying.

“Yes.”

Neither of us has anything left to prove. She sighs into my mouth and grips the front of my shirt like she’s thinking about pulling me back into bed with her. For one dangerous second, I consider it. Then she releases me and settles into the pillow with her eyes already closing.

“Good night, Jamie.”

“Good night, Blaire. The pleasure was mine.”

“Sweet dreams,” she whispers.

I slip out of her room and go down the stairs, through the kitchen and toward the back door. I press the lock and pull the handle shut behind me.

The cold slams into me even though my body feels like it’s on fire. The streets are quiet, and no one is out haunting tonight. It’s just me and the ghosts. I stroll to the Mustang in no hurry while I replay the entire night on a loop.

For three hundred years, men in my family have been warned about witches and their curses. And here I am, having a fling with the one who supposedly freed me from it.

I start the engine and smile the whole drive up the mountain to my glass house in the sky.

Damn, I really can’t wait to see her again.

BLAIRE

“Did you happen to hear the ghosts last night?” Josie asks, pointing at the ceiling. She’s bright-eyed and bushy-tailed this morning. “I was having a mini freak-out.”

My mug stops an inch from my mouth, and I set it down. “Oh, my goodness. What happened?”

“I could’ve sworn I heard a deep voice. Do you happen to know the names of the people who haunt here?”

As soon as the question leaves her mouth, Winter enters, already dressed for the day. Her dark hair is pulled up into a high pony. Sir Charles prances behind her.

“Names?” Winter asks, heading for the coffeepot. “Of whom?”

“The ghosts.” Josie waves her other hand in the air like it’s the most obvious thing in the world. “I heard a man’s voice last night. It was rumbly. It sounded like it was coming up through the damn floor. I was getting in my head about it and almost woke you both up. It was around midnight or so.”

“That’s very strange,” I tell her, taking a sip of my coffee, squeezing my thighs together.

I can feel every place Jamie was last night. And before he left, that gorgeous, sexy man kissed me like he didn’t want to forget our night together.

“Did you hear me?” Josie says with her brows raised.

Even Winter is staring at me.
