“I’m still terrified,” I admit shyly.

Despite the heated expression in his eyes, burning me up from the inside, he smirks atme.

“I know. But let me try to chase away your fear, Laura. Give me time—I’ll wear you down. Besides,” he winks at me, “you can’t resist me. I’m toohot.”

Laughter bubbles in my throat.

“So sure of yourself, aren’tyou?”

That earns me a full smile, the dimples popping out, and as his thumbs caress my cheeks, my heart melts a little bitmore.

“Just telling it the way it is, sweetheart. You wantme.”

I lick my lips and raise my arms, running the tip of my fingers against his scruff. The smile vanishes from his mouth, and when I raise my eyes, I shiver at the scorching need that blazes back atme.

“Yes, I do,” I mutter before I brush my mouth over his. My hands glide down his arms again, and I remove his hands from my face, linking our fingers together. “I believe I promised you something earlier today, didn’tI?”

He nods and releases a heavy breath.

“I haven’t thought about anything else all day,” he grunts.

Desire pools between my legs as I get up slowly, pulling slightly until he stands in front ofme.

“Come with me,” I murmur and then back out of the room, turning away from him as we reach the stairs that will take us up to my bedroom.

“Unzip my dress,” I whisper as we stand in the hallway.

Without a word, he finds the zipper at the nape of my neck. I lock my knees together as he pulls it down, his knuckles grazing my spine, and I have to bite down on my lip to prevent the needy moan from escapingme.

With the tip of my fingers I push the fabric down until the dress pools at my feet. The gasp that falls from his lips as he sees my bare back makes me smile in victory. I look back at him once and smirk before I walk up the stairs, clad only in my black, lacy thong.

The alcohol in my blood fuels my hunger for him, but I’m determined to take my time with him tonight. To make him forget his pain and heartache for one night.
