“What about last night?” I ask, my voice neutral. “It was great, wasn’tit?”
He narrows his eyes at me as he nods slowly.
“Yeah, butI’m –”
“I’m glad we got to know each other better,” I interrupt. “And thank you for helping me after my small, err…mishap.”
His eyebrows shoot up. “You remember thatpart?”
“Yes. I’m grateful for your concern.”
His hand leaves myarm.
“What else do you remember?”
I open my mouth, hesitating for a beat. The air shifts, pressing in on my chest, and the way his jaw ticks as he waits for my answer makes the decision forme.
Honesty is always the best approach.
“Everything,” I whisper. “I remember everything.”
I don’t give him the chance to reply and quickly leave him withthat.
