“I never do this.” She pulled back her hand.
“Do what?” Taking her hand in his, he moved closer. A waft of something flowery pulled him in.
“Sit in a bar. Order a drink I’ve never had before. Talk to the complete stranger sitting next to me. I never date anyone that I haven’t researched thoroughly.”
His eyebrows rose. “You work for the FBI?”
She grinned. “Oh, no. I just like to be in control.”
“I never talk to strange women either.” He was struggling to breathe properly. “But you … you’re the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen.”
“It’s probably the drink you’re having,” she said. “I’m very ordinary.”
“You are anything but. Shall we get another drink?” Bending forward, he noticed her skin. Soft. Silk. He couldn’t wait to find out whether he was right.
Her soft sigh close to his ear slipped through every pore, mingled with his blood, a fist of desire punched him in the gut and within minutes his body was on fire.
Trying his best to keep a tight rein on his galloping libido, he pulled back. “Or …” He gently touched her face.
Gasping softly, she stared at him.
He had no idea what was happening, but for once he didn’t question his instincts. The urge to bend down and trail his lips down her face, to touch her body, was so overwhelming, he couldn’t resist. “You could come with me. My hotel is right next door.”
She stilled. Pulling back, he took a sip of his cold beer, waited.
“No names and no personal details?” she finally said.
He got up, extended his hand. “Deal.”
For another second, she chewed on her lip while she played with her braid. Entranced, his eyes followed the movement until he was struggling to breathe.
“Okay.” It was a mere whisper, but he heard it loud and clear.
“You sure?”
She nodded.
Throwing cash on the counter, he helped her up and slipped an arm around her.
Chapter Two
Abby was feverish, the intense and nearly desperate need raging through her, was genuinely scary. She’d never felt this way before. It wasn’t as if she’d never had sex before but this throbbing, insistent ache deep inside her wasn’t a familiar feeling. Her heart had lost its rhythm minutes ago, her blood was roaring so loudly through her veins, everyone around them should be able to hear it.
Not even the cool air outside did anything to dampen the fever that was rapidly spreading throughout her body. They moved through the crowds on the sidewalk, but she didn’t see or hear anything else. All she was aware of was the warm hand on her hip and the strong arm steering her forward.
The cowboy kept his arm around her all the way into the elevator of his hotel. It was empty. As they moved inside, she ended up in front of him. As his arms slipped around her, she leaned back into his lean body, wanting to keep as close to him as humanly possible.
In the mirror against the wall, they stared at each other. While watching her, his hands moved restlessly up and down her sides, shifting closer and closer to her aching breasts.
Oh, my goodness, when would this thing stop?
As if reading her mind, he bent down and buried his face in her neck while those clever hands continued to destroy her. Finally, unable to keep still, she turned in his arms. His mouth was on hers before she could take her next breath. But that was okay, maybe oxygen at a time like this was a tad overrated.
Her hands slid up his back, exploring every inch of solid cowboy.
Faraway, something pinged and the cowboy lifted his head. “My floor,” he gulped before navigating her into the corridor.
With his arm tightly around her, they moved past doors until he finally stopped in front of one. As he opened it, he turned to her, both colors of his eyes burning. “You sure?”
