“What do you want to do?”

“I don’t know. It’s not enough, is it? They could just say it’s a voice clone or something, and they’d probably believe him.”

“If I tell you something, do you promise not to get mad?”

“Why does that feel like a loaded question?”

“I might have hired someone Daniel recommended to gather evidence that Dillon and Alex were together before we got married. And if he can find anything else on my former best friend as well, then all the better.”

Gabriel couldn’t help but laugh.

“Okay, that’s a better reaction than I was expecting. I paid him for two weeks, so by this time next week we’ll know what he’s found. Maybe we’ll wait until then and decide what to do with that recording.”

“See, I knew you were the sensible one.”

Bobby looked at him and smiled before leaning forward for a kiss. It was gentle, not like the one they’d shared the night before, but it didn’t take long until Gabriel found himself pushed against the wall as Bobby dominated his mouth. For someone who had never kissed a man before yesterday, he certainly knew how to bring one to his knees with just a kiss.

“We’d better get ready to go out. It’ll take us a couple of hours to get there.”

“Hours? Where are we going?”

“A country pub for Sunday dinner.”

“There’s a pub across the road.”

“Yes, but people travel for miles for this one. It came highly recommended.”

“From who?”

“Daniel. He sorted the reservation for me. I think I might have disturbed him fucking Josh as he seemed out of breath when he answered.”

Gabriel laughed. “I don’t know the guy as well as you do, but having seen how he is with Josh in public, if he was doing anything like that, he probably would have ignored your call.”

“Let’s be ready to go in ten minutes. I’ll let them know we’re running a bit late.”

“Or . . . maybe we could stay here,” said Gabriel, running his hand over Bobby’s rock-hard chest.

“And do what?”

“Fuck?”

Bobby’s eyes widened.

“Shit, sorry. Did I try to move things too fast again?”

Bobby smiled and kissed him gently, before resting their foreheads together.

“I’d like that, but I want to do things right. Let’s have Sunday lunch, and then we can come back here and see what happens.”

Gabriel was rock hard, and would happily go without lunch, but Bobby wanted to take him out for a meal. This is what he always complained guys never did. They just wanted to jump straight into bed. Now Gabriel was questioning if he was the reason that always happened.

The Stag and Lantern, in the village of Heartwood, was a gorgeous venue. It was like an old-style country pub, but on a large plot. The tables were well spaced out, and the smell of food was making his mouth water. A tall bear of a man greeted them.

“Hello, I’m Gerard. You two are friends of Daniel?”

“Yes,” said Bobby. “Thanks for making space for us.”

“Any friends of Daniel’s are welcome here. Follow me.”
