Chaol lost himself to sensation. Daniel wanted him, Daniel needed him, and Daniel was going to have him. Chaol wouldn’t have it any other way. He clawed at Daniel’s back, desperate for more. Daniel could cut him open and climb inside him and Chaol would thank him for it. He wanted this to last forever. He hadn’t savored it properly the first time, but he would now. He committed every roll of Daniel’s hips to memory, every brush of skin against skin, every taste, and every ounce of pain and pleasure.

It was over far too fast, even with Chaol doing his best to hold his orgasm off by refusing to touch himself. His length was trapped between their bellies, and the friction was more than enough when coupled with Daniel tagging his prostate over and over. His spine arched as he came with a howl, and Daniel followed him right over the edge, his mouth stained black with Chaol’s blood.

Daniel collapsed against him, tucking his forehead in the curve of Chaol’s neck as aftershocks twitched through them.

“I hated it when you left,” he finally croaked. “I felt so alone.”

“I’m sorry,” Chaol said, petting his hair. “I didn’t mean to leave you. I just needed to get away from them.”

“Next time take me with you.”

Chaol looked down at him, and Daniel raised his head. “Really?”

Daniel nodded. “You and me, baby.”

“But your brother… your friends…”

Daniel shrugged. “I can see them whenever. They didn’t need me right then. You did.”

Chaol softened. “I always need you.”

“And I’m always here,” Daniel said. “So don’t run the fuck away from me.”

“I believe I flew, not ran.”

“Don’t sass me,” Daniel said dryly.

“If I do it again do you promise to fuck me like this again?” He absently trailed his fingers up and down Daniel’s arm.

“Harder,” Daniel promised, laying his head back down.

“Ooh, careful. I might make it a habit.”

Daniel pinched his nipple, and Chaol writhed. “I’ll fuck you as hard as you want if you take me with you.”

Chaol smiled up at the ceiling, carding his fingers through Daniel’s soft curls. “Deal.”

After some time, Daniel raised his head again. “What’s the plan, then? We have to work with them—or I do, at least. The leviathans are central figures to the Sentinels. We’ll need their help to stop the angel, and I intend to help them with the guild, too.”

Chaol blew out a breath. “I’m not letting you go up against that angel without me, and I guess it’s only fitting that I help bring down the guild.”

“You don’t have to,” Daniel said, “if you don’t want to. But I’m a part of that fight. Apparently, they killed me. I can’t just walk away.”

“Then I’ll be by your side,” Chaol said. “I’m not letting you walk into any battle without me.”

Daniel softened, his hips hitching slightly and making Chaol gasp. “Are you sure? You’ll still be mine even if you don’t want to fight.”

“You’re mine, too. Where you go, I go.” Chaol gasped as Daniel’s cock inched deeper inside him. He clawed at Daniel’s back.

“Like a clan?” Daniel’s voice was soft, almost hopeful.

Chaol met his eyes, lost for words. The vulnerability was plain to see; he could tell it was. “Yes,” he whispered. “Like a clan.”

“We can be a clan of two,” Daniel murmured, kissing him softly. “Well, four. Nic and Ash are family. Hell, Julian and Valac are, too, really. Six.”

Six. Chaol didn’t know if the sin eater and behemoth would agree, but he liked the promise in Daniel’s words. They could be their own little clan.

“You like that, huh?” Daniel guessed, hitching his hips again. “You like being in a clan with me?”
