If I’m being honest, that plan isn’t going how I thought it would. It’s proving to be more difficult than I would have liked. I’m going to have to do some recon later and come up with some ideas for myself to figure out how I can appear more vulnerable to him.
But like I said, later.
Right now, this anger inside me is festering, shifting into rage. I was going to explode back in his office, and I had to get away from him. He’s the last person I would like to take my anger out on.
Scarlet, on the other hand, I wouldn’t mind searching for her and smacking the bitch around, but she is most likely in her ward.
My footsteps almost echo down the hallway despite the patients lingering around. Hushed voices and hard stares watch me as I manically rush through the hall, shoving people out of my way as I head to the common room.
I don’t know who or what I am looking for. When I storm through the door, Eliza is working on the same puzzle as before. Actually, she is close to being done. She is off the list of getting the brunt of my anger.
Then I feel a presence. The same damn person who took over my chair, thinking she had the right to sit there. The audacity!
My head slowly swivels to the left, gazing over my shoulder as I see her sitting in the same spot I left her earlier. The heart in my chest races.
Harsh puffs of air retreat from my nose, and my head ticks slightly. With my eyes on hers, I can sense the other patient's eyes on me. Women who were hanging out in the hall are now standing behind me in the doorway, waiting for me to lose my cool.
Lucky for them, the show is about to begin.
As if she can feel the lasers I am shooting into her skin, the newbie removes her attention from the book and focuses on me. If she is afraid, she doesn’t show it. Deep down, though, I know she is frightened, if only just a little.
She’s good at hiding it; I’ll give her that. I waste no more time standing here gawking at her sitting in what's mine. I march over to her, standing directly in front of her. She closes her book softly while she continues to hold my gaze.
Until now, words haven’t been able to get through to her. Instead of opening my mouth to scream at her, I grab her by the short, faded green strands on her head and yank her as hard as I can, sending her flying to the floor.
She lands with a thud next to the coffee table, but before she can even think about getting up, I quickly straddle her body.
“I told you that was my chair!” I scream into her face as I pin her hands above her head.
She lifts her head off the ground to get closer to me. “And I told you I didn’t care.”
“You fucking bitch!” I release one of her wrists and bring my hand up, only to ball it into a fist and introduce it to her nose. The cracking sound booms loudly throughout the room.
Gasps surround me, but I don’t look up at the audience.
After the impact, she lets out a small laugh. “That all you got?”
What the hell is wrong with her?
I ram my fist into her face repeatedly until blood seeps out of her nose. If she were standing, that blood would gush like a waterfall.
There are cuts from my fist hitting her that open up on her face as she lies there, taking the beating. My knuckles become sore, so I give up and wrap my bloody hand around her throat.
“I take it your session with the hot doctor didn’t go well?” She laughs in my face as blood drips down her own.
“Shut up!” I pick her up by her neck just to slam her head back down onto the solid ground.
She winces at the pain, but that stupid smile is still on her face. “Hopefully, my session with him goes better. I see him tomorrow.”
Red.
That is all I’m seeing after she spoke those words. Of all the patients he could take on in the damn place, this is who he got? Picking her head up again, I crush it into the hardwood again, lowering my face to hers.
“I should fucking kill you,” I threaten through clenched teeth.
“Then... fucking... do it!” she stutters from lack of air.
Bringing my other hand down to her throat, it joins the other to create a necklace, and I completely choke her. I cut off her air supply so she can’t breathe.
