Oh, she could and would.
Elizabeth kept her word. That would be one thing she’d never back down on.
PERIOD.
She might bend the law, but she wouldn’t bend promises. If you didn’t keep them, you weren’t doing the people you loved any favors.
Instead of answering her, she refocused the whole conversation.
“Now, let’s go spend money,” she said. “Where can I find some fun things for my kids?” she asked, as if she didn’t just transfer a huge amount of money to the woman’s account, like it was another day in her life.
Finn was confused as to why his wife had that look on her face.
“What’s wrong, Lass?” he asked. “Why are you staring at your phone like it’s going to bite you?”
That was when she showed him.
Oh, and not only was it now her problem, but it was also his because they had a joint account.
He gasped.
“GABBY!” he said, shocked to see that number in their account. They were comfortable, but that was life-changing money. That was ‘buy a new place so they could fill it with kids’ money a few times over.
Oh, she was shocked too.
Elizabeth had told her that she was getting the reward for finding Devon Slater, but she never expected it to happen.
“She just paid me a million dollars, Finn. What the hell?”
He had no clue.
What his wife did for a living was all kinds of crazy to him because she was his sweet lass, but clearly, her skills were incredibly valuable.
That was one hell of a price tag.
Finn didn’t get paid as well as she did, clearly, and that amount of money was crazy.
It.
Was.
Insane.
“I mean, go shopping,” he said. “Because I have no idea what to do with that.”
Yeah, her either.
But they’d figure it out.
One day.
