Raising my hand, I knocked on the dorm door. I wasn’t sure who would answer, but it didn’t really matter. My story would be the same.

As luck would have it, a pixie-like girl with vibrant purple and pink hair answered the door. My eyes flicked from the curly mop on her head to her plain blue eyes and finally to her mouth that was chewing a piece of gum like a cow. I watched the wad move around in her mouth, and I immediately wanted to stuff it down her throat and watch her choke before I ripped her tongue out of her head. What a disgusting display of our next crop of FBI agents…They were really going downhill.

“Yeah,” she asked, pulling the large earphones off her head and letting them hang around her neck.

“Maintenance, checking all the rooms on this floor to make sure the phone and internet are working properly.”

“Is this about the power flickering all the time?”

I nodded. “That’s what the work order says. I need to check all the rooms to see if we can find the cause.” I was such a smooth liar. I had no fucking clue what she was talking about, but I was happy about the free information.

“Oh.” She looked at her phone.

“I won’t be long and won’t need to turn the WiFi off if that’s what you’re worried about.” I gave her a smile, the corner of my mouth pulling up the way Abel had made me practice endlessly until I pictured wrapping my hands around his throat. I pictured doing the same thing to the pixie, but then she blushed and held open the door wide for me to enter. I really hated to admit it when Abel did a good job.

I took a deep breath as I entered Sunshine’s personal space for the first time.

“Since your roommate is not home, I’ll check yours first so you can get back to work,” I said and pulled a tool out of my pocket that, in reality, only checked for power, but it looked professional when the little tip lit up.

“Oh, she’s in the bathroom,” the girl said. “She’ll be a minute. You can take your time.” She smiled brightly, and I suddenly wondered if I’d done too good of a job in the flirting department. Then again, it might be good if the girl wanted to keep inviting me in. I had no idea yet when I was going to be able to take my prize home. Bending down, I leaned under her desk and made little noises like I was thinking. Standing, I scribbled a curlicue on the note-pad. Giving the girl a good old panty-dropping smile again, I nodded. “She’s all good. The problem is not with your side.”

“Thanks,” she smacked loudly, making my teeth ache and my hand twitch.

I could hear the shower running, and I’d planned a simple mission. Figure out Sunshine’s real name and maybe get her class schedule, but there was very little on the desk. I scanned the few items and knew right away that my Sunshine had a bit of OCD. Everything was perfectly symmetrical. There wasn’t a single item sitting out that wasn’t needed for daily use, and it made me smile. I liked the organization, and I hated clutter—points for Sunshine.

The issue it caused was the increased risk of needing to go through her drawers. I was reaching for one of the desk drawers when I heard the shower shut off.

“Dammit,” I whispered under my breath, annoyed at not finding anything useful. I waved to the pixie, who didn’t bother to look my way now that she was fully engrossed with whatever was on her screen.

If I’d actually been there to kill her, she would already be choking on her own blood. She was lucky she was not on the menu, at least for tonight. I opened and closed the door and then stood perfectly still to see if she’d notice I had only pretended to leave.

Stupid. Way too many stupid people were walking around, still breathing.

When the girl continued to ignore me, I slipped toward Sunshine’s bed and slid underneath. It was stimulating to be this close to her, to smell her in the room. Her feet padded out of the bathroom, and right away, I noticed the bright purple nail polish. The heat from the shower and her body wash was strong in my nose, and I sucked in a slow deep breath savoring the scent. My cock stirred with the combination of mint and lavender. Not scents that would normally turn me on, but an intoxicating aroma on her. I wondered if she’d smell as sweet with the scent of blood rolling off her body.

“I’m going to put on some coffee. Did you want some,” I heard her ask, but there was no response. “Tina! Coffee?”

“No.”

If I held my head just right, I could make out Sunshine’s face from where I lay, and she looked annoyed. I liked her voice. It suited her features. That was important. I fucking hated it when you looked at someone, and they didn’t sound anything like they should. If she’d opened her mouth and had sounded like a squeak toy…well, I’d have to kill her sooner.

“Hey did you see where I put my highlighter,” she asked, but again there was only silence from the other side of the room. “There it is. Shit.”

The yellow highlighter dropped and rolled partially under the bed. She got down on one knee and groped under the bed with her hand. Lifting my arm, I nudged the bright yellow pen with my elbow, and she almost touched my arm as she wrapped her hand around the plastic. The thought of her touching me and freaking out as I grabbed her arm and dragged her under the bed next to me sent a jolt of excitement through my body. My nose flared, and I suddenly wanted to push up my timeline.

I scolded myself and managed to keep my body perfectly still as I waited like the perfect stalker that I was. I loved this cat-and-mouse game, loved the thrill of hiding in someone’s home and following them around while they were none the wiser. The minutes ticked by, but I didn’t mind getting this time with her. It allowed me to understand her habits better. Like how many times she needed to use the bathroom after a coffee and how she liked to hum softly to the music she was listening to while her toe tapped the floor.

I could hear her yawn and watched as she stood from her desk and the light clicked off. My Sunshine lay above me, the old wood complaining about the sudden weight. I turned to stare up at the bottom of the bed and thought about how she was only mere inches away from being able to wrap my hand around her throat as I fucked her. I could picture her lying on top of me and my body hardened with the thought of having her right now. Reaching up, I softly petted the bottom of the bed like I was stroking her body and smirked. It would happen. I would make sure of it.

I closed my eyes and focused on the steady intake and exhale of her breaths that made my body tingle with the building urge to touch her skin and stare into those violet eyes as I fucked her. My cock was hovering on that delicious edge of pain and desire as it begged to be touched, but I refused.

Waiting for both Sunshine and the roommate to fall asleep was an agonizingly addictive game of wills. I sucked in an uneven breath as she finally drifted off to visit the sandman. I wondered if she’d see my face in her dreams. All too soon, she would. I’d make sure of it.

Like a creature from a horror movie, I silently slid out from under the bed enough that I could sit up, and there she was. She was lying on her back, her face peaceful as she slept. She was like a delectable doll, a collector’s piece. I laid my arms and chin on the bed, stared at the side of her face, and memorized every little feature, including the little freckle she had on the right side of her cheek.

I heard the pixie move around in her own bed and decided I better get moving. Sunshine’s phone was on the nightstand, and I grabbed it and tapped the screen. It asked for finger recognition, and I swore in my head as I stared at her hands that were thankfully on top of the covers. Choosing to start with the index finger of her right hand, I slowly pushed the phone down into the mattress and slid it under her finger. It didn’t unlock, and I moved my gaze to her face, which was still slack with sleep. Leaning over her body but careful not to touch her, I did the same thing with the phone to her left hand and smirked as it unlocked.

Before I could move, Sunshine mumbled something in her sleep and raised her arm above her head, smacking me in the chest.
