“Lies,” she said, but she licked her lips, even as her body stiffened.
“Keep lying to yourself, Skye,” I whispered and then skated to the far side of the rink to take my shit off so I didn’t follow through and toss her ass down on the snow to claim her in front of everyone.
Not even one fucking day, and she’d crawled under my skin and was in my blood.
CHAPTER SIX
SKYE
Cal was confusing the hell out of me. Just when I thought I knew where I stood, he changed the rules again. He had always kept me on my toes, but this was unusual. One second, Cal acted as if he hated me, and then the next, he looked like he was going to devour me. I can’t say that look didn’t make me want to fan myself, but that was also the look that gave my heart a spark of hope, and I couldn’t allow that.
Then there was Alex. What the fuck was up with him hitting me with that slap shot? I knew he meant to do it. I saw the glimmer of humor in his eyes before he took the shot. But all it did was create more tension between him and Cal. It made no sense. Neither of them made sense. I just needed to keep my head down until I could get out of here and hopefully wouldn’t need to pick up the shattered pieces of my heart all over again.
The guys were in the living room playing another video game, but I couldn’t sit and stare at the screen anymore. I didn’t want to admit it, but I had a slight headache from earlier, and the shooting game was hurting my eyes. It probably meant I had a bit of a concussion. Great.
Searching through my suitcase, I couldn’t find my extra hoodie. I could’ve sworn I packed it. Shit, my other one was damp from playing hockey and needed to be washed. I didn’t want to put that back on.
Sneaking away from the group, I jogged up the stairs to Cal’s room to hunt down a hoodie to wear for the night. He would be annoyed, and I had to admit that held a certain appeal. My phone dinged, and I pulled it out to see a message from Hayley. I’d changed her contact name to Pain In My Ass. I found that fitting, considering the situation.
PIMA: Hey! So has he fucked you yet? Please tell me he cleaned out that old dusty bat cave you have?
Instantly, my ears burned, and I knew my face was bright red. I looked around the empty hallway like it could read my texts.
S: NO! He is not fucking anyone, least of all me. Cal hates me, and I hate talking about your brother and sex with you.
PIMA: Hmm, I’ll give him a poke. He needs to get a move on. Only a couple of days left to fix shit. Besides, I know you still love him, and if he knows that, he’ll get off his ass.
My hand tightened on the phone, and I had to retype my panicked message three times, but it was too late. I heard the faint ding of Callum’s phone. Shit!
S: YOU’RE SO DEAD. I SWEAR I’M GOING TO BURY YOU IN YOUR BACKYARD!!!!!
PIMA: LMFAO!
I speed-walked the last few feet to Callum’s door and prayed he hadn’t changed his password. The last thing I needed was Hales professing my love for him and embarrassing me further. Poking my head in his bedroom, I didn’t see him, but I heard the ding again, louder this time and realized it was coming from his washroom.
My ears finally registered the sound of running water. Shit, he wasn’t downstairs. I really was out of it to not notice that. The door was open a crack, and my heart pounded harder as I got closer. I couldn’t see him and nudged it open more. The steam poured out into the bedroom, and the scent of soap filled my nose. I really shouldn’t be doing this.
I turned to walk away when I heard him groan, and a shiver raced down my spine. Part of me screamed to get the hell out of there before I was caught, but the other part really wanted to know if he was doing what it sounded like he was doing. He groaned again, and I rubbed my thighs together as the sound warmed every part of my body.
Giving the door another little push, I could finally see the shower, and there Cal was in all his God given glory. He had his back to me, one hand braced on the wall, feet spread, but it was his arm flexing as he stroked himself that had all my muscles tightening with instant desire. I really wanted him to turn to the side so I could watch. I was a fucking pervert with scrambled morals. But this was Cal, not just some random guy. I leaned a little more wight on the door to see if I could get a better view.
“Fuck yeah,” he said, his ass muscles and back flexing as he pumped his hips harder.
I gripped the edge of the door, craning my neck, tipped in a few more inches, and—only because the universe hated me—my hand slipped. The door banged open as I stumbled into the room. Cal whipped around, and I froze, staring at him as every sexual fantasy played out within one breath to the next.
He pushed open the glass door, his heated stare locked on me, and I knew I should throw him a towel and get the fuck out of there. Instead, my eyes traveled up and down his hard body and to the cock standing out proudly. I glanced at his bedroom and the only escape route.
“Don’t even bother,” he said, and I swallowed hard as he stepped out of the shower with the water still running. “Were you watching me jerk off?”
“Um…I….”
Water dripped in long, glistening streams from his body. I didn’t have any explanations for being in his room, let alone watching him. I knew there had to be some, but…holy hell, my brain didn’t want to work. Cal had filled out so much since the last time I saw him naked. I hadn’t seen any guy naked, but Cal was just…he made my heart hammer and my pulse shoot through the roof.
Cal moved fast and wrapped his arm around my waist, trapping me against the wall as my mind struggled to come up with a believable excuse as to why I barged in here. Saying, hey I was just planning on stealing your phone until I saw what you were doing, didn’t seem to be the best answer.
“Were you Skye? Do you like watching me stroke my cock? Does it turn you on knowing I was thinking of you?”
His voice was low and seemed so dangerous even though I was never scared of him. He resumed stroking his cock that was poking me in the stomach, and I couldn’t stop my eyes from looking down. My breath caught as he pushed forward, and the t-shirt I was wearing moved up.
