I felt silly as hell. All I could do was look away before murmuring.

“I didn’t even get you a gift for your birthday…” I wiped at my tears.

Royal shook his head with the same cocky smirk remaining in place.

“Nah, you the birthday.” He chuckled out.

We both fell out laughing together because I could always depend on him to bring comedic relief to a serious situation.

“Thank you, Ro Ro.” I held the papers against my chest.

“This means so much to me, I swear this is literally a dream come true… How did you even get my dad to sign Spike’s over?”

“Shit it wasn’t easy… I said I wasn’t about to prove shit to that nigga nor beg him but… I’m really feeling yo ass. All you need to know is yo dad ain’t gon’ be an issue. Y’all relationship gon’ remain tight but you moving in with me,” he said the last sentence with ease.

“Moving in with you?” I frowned lightly.

“Hell yeah, I missed the fuck out of you. I wanted to snatch you up soon as I walked in this bitch—”

“Yeah,” I cut him off, rolling my eyes. “With three hoes, twerking ass all in yo face.” I playfully mushed his head.

“I told them to do that when I saw that high yellow nigga all up on what’s mine. You lucky I ain’t cap ’em’.” He frowned.

I blushed hard at his crazy ass and fell into a comfortable silence with so many questions swirling around in my head. He spent seven days creating a future for me. That spoke a thousand words that he would never have to say because it was the actions that spoke louder than words for me.

“If you scared about having nothing to fall back on if things go left, I’ll buy you a house in your name. If we ever need space, that’s a place you can call your own.” His deep voice cut into my thoughts.

“Okay Ro Ro, let’s go home so I can freak you out now.”

I turned away from him, grinning tearfully from ear to ear. It was hard to play it cool when this man just walked in here with big dick energy, changing my entire life in just seven damn days. If I wasn’t so sure about my feelings for him a few minutes ago, I was now. Suddenly everything made perfect damn sense.

While I tried to be distant with my father, he too was playing things cool with me. Him and Royal would probably never come to a common ground, but mutual respect was enough for me. I wanted Royal, and he made it clear that he wanted me. The rest of everything could be figured out later cause like my man said a couple of minutes ago… I’m the birthday… on his birthday!

CHAPTER 25

La’Nova

NEW YEAR’S DAY- WOMAN OF THE HOUSE.

My birthday started with expensive, beautiful chaos, which honestly deserved its own category. I woke up buried beneath gifts for the first time in my life. Boxes, bags, flowers, jewelry, books, and my favorite amongst it all was art supplies. I had moon flowers in every corner of the room as Luca stood in the corner of our bedroom holding Novae, sipping his ginger and lemon tea with a loving expression covering his handsome face.

The kids served me breakfast in bed then casually informed me that we had a private birthday dinner date planned later in the evening. Now I sat in my favorite part of the estate, which belonged to me, trying my hardest not to think about the love of my life. I was failing miserably, even with Cain and Abel complaining about either Kenny Jr or Narah getting in their way.

Novae sat nearby inside her baby swing kicking her little feet happily while colorful animals spun above her head. I moved Kenny Jr. out the way since he was eight months and crawling around getting into everything. He entertained Novae as he now sat across from her in a swing of his own, chewing aggressively on a rubber giraffe. Little Narah had paint all over the plastic folding table I sat up for her.

The paint was in the two puff balls that sat on either side of her head, her hands, cheeks, and princess Ana dress was drenched in paint, but she was happy. That was all that mattered to me because Narah was a fussy toddler. She had plenty of temper tantrums that put me on edge. A lot of times I feared she’d hurt herself whenever she would fall out. I’d nearly hurt myself trying to intervene and break her hard falls when she threw herself down from not getting her way. This was the fifth weekend Sanarah’s and Kentrell children spent at the estate.

“Man, this lame, Nova Baby.” Cain was the first to break our concentration.

“What’s lame?” I looked down at him.

Cain and Abel sat on opposite sides of the giant canvas that was bigger than life in front of us while I stood in the middle. It took me nearly three weeks to just finish the drawing. When I first started, I found myself very emotional. But what I got out of the end result of the drawing was forgiveness and me wanting to seek another form of therapy for not just myself, but for Luca as well.

Cain pointed at the mural with his handsome little face frowned up.

“Why we gotta spend your birthday painting grandpa Donnie?”

“Yeah, no lie, Nova baby… it feels backwards,” Abel added in after Cain.
