I eyed the gold bracelets that wrapped around one wrist while a Louis Vuitton handbag sat beside her on the sofa. Her perfume reached me before I crossed the room. It smelled expensive and floral. Immediately, I knew it was Luca’s money that had her sitting pretty and smelling good. That realization again sat funny in my chest.

Narah laid curled against her mother’s lap while Sanarah stroked the top of her head, absentmindedly. Seconds later, Sanarah looked up at me and frowned slightly. I felt her energy before she even spoke. It was clear that she didn’t like me; it was also clear that she knew exactly who I was before even speaking but she still decided to test the waters and be a funny, conniving bitch anyway.

“Ohhh.” She smiled, narrowing her eyes into tiny slits as if she couldn’t see my curvy frame standing right in front of her. “You must be the nanny.” She smiled sharply.

I smiled sinisterly back at her because the Lord had a funny way of delivering comedy directly in front of me. I was very amused to say the least. Since she wanted to start our introduction on some funny shit, I was willing to clown on her ass.

“Ohhhh,” I placed my hand across my paint-stained chest, eyes widening. “You must be the woman I have to train, so that my man won’t have to take care of you much longer.” I raised my brows just as she abruptly stood to her feet.

“Bitch, what?” She shrieked, not even caring that she scared Narah.

“Nova baby,” Luca whispered behind me.

I held my hand up to stop him from even approaching me.

“Don’t intervene, Luca… I came in here to formally introduce myself to her, but she knows who I am to keep it real…” I placed my hand on my hip, all niceness flying out the window.

“You the same chick that—” I cut myself off when I laid eyes on Narah now sitting up.

I turned to Luca finally; I calmed all the way down when I laid eyes on his handsome face. He had on a two-piece light tan linen suit with the first two buttons unbuttoned.

“Luca bear, can you take the kids with you for a second so I can have a chat with Sanarah.” I blinked my eyes at him innocently.

He smirked, shocking me when he nodded his head. All he had to do was hold his hand out to Narah and she went right over to him like the true uncle’s girl she was. I guided the stroller to him then stood on my tippy toes to place a firm kiss on his thick lips.

“Be nice,” he whispered.

I nodded my head, then strutted back to the sectional across from Sanarah who still stood like she was ready to rumble with me.

“I’ll advise you to sit eye level with me… you not like that girl.” I chuckled dryly. “I ain’t about to fight you unless you bring yo ass over to me.” I crossed one leg over the other. “So, sit the fuck down,” I said gravely.

She wouldn’t be the first baby momma of Kentrell’s that I had to wear out.

“You don’t fuckin’ scare me,” she spat.

“Good, you supposed to only fear God… now have a seat.”

My jaws clenched. I high key wanted to beat her ass just for being fucking funny when I first walked in here. Sanarah went through the motions right in front of me. Seconds later, she sat her ass down like I told her to.

“I stopped myself from going in on you because I really like and respect your kids. Now that they not in here, I can say what the fuck I was about to say from jump.” I cocked my head to the side, waiting for her to say something back.

When she didn’t, I uncrossed my legs and looked her directly in the eyes.

“You the same triflin’ ass bitch that had Kentrell sniffing powder off yo ass while he was talking to me crazy as fuck on the phone. I’m glad shit happened the way it did because as you can see, I’m stuck with the brother that has all his screws unlike you being stuck with the deceased brother that left you with—”

“Bitch, you don’t fucking know me!” She yelled, turning red in the face.

“Well hoe, I know enough.” I raised one brow still amused with how fast the tables flipped between us.

I squinted my eyes at her, really getting a good look at Sanarah. I spent years working with women, and one thing became painfully clear to me... Insecurity had a way of shrinking a person long before anyone else ever tried to. Women who were the easiest to dominate weren’t weak. That was the misconception people always made.

They were often intelligent, talented beautiful women carrying wounds nobody could see. Their insecurities did the heavy lifting before anyone else ever had to. I could dominate Sanarah quickly if I wanted to because domination often began long before another person entered the picture. Her inner weak voice had already become the loudest authority in the room.

I noticed it with how uncomfortable she was under my scrutiny with just me simply staring at her. I leaned back on the couch, keeping my leg crossed over the other as I let the silence purposely stretch further between us just to watch her squirm right in front of me.

I wanted her disrespectful ass to sit in discomfort. She couldn’t even meet my eyes but had the nerve to get testy with words. Her fingers twisted together in her lap while she stared at the floor as if her next set of words was hidden in the carpet.

“Look at me, Sanarah,” I demanded.
